I want a normal phone

I have at this moment in time got a Sendo M550 on the O2 pay as you go network. Now this phone have done well have been knocked around a bit, but being a flip phone is what I like as it is small and compact.

Because this phone is now at the end of its life, I am thinking about a new one, still on the o2 network.
Now this is my problem, all I want my phone to do is to make a receive calls, I do not want a camera, games, polyphonic tunes or anything that I am not going to use. It seems to me that it is getting more difficult to find a phone like this and on the o2 network.

I still want the phone to be small, I do not mind a LCD display, since I find the LED display on phones now are difficult to read in the day light anyway, I do not want the internet on it either.

Am I asking too much trying to get a phone just for phoning?
also I do not want to pay a fortune.

Have you checked out the Samsung E330 - flip and very compact. Unsure of what features it has - might have a camera too. But its getting a bit old now so you will be able to pick it up cheap enough.

Isn't someone currently advertising a phone that is literally just a phone? My parents told me about it the other day. Not seen it myself, though.

Yeah, read about it in a newspaper article but it was on Vodaphone I believe.

The Nokia 1100 sounds good, in fact it reminds me the the 3310, but updated.
I want something small, I do not know how small this phone is.

The big problem I find with most new phones is that they use LEd screens and trying to see the things in the sunlight is next to impossible.
I notice the 1100, uses good old LCD, a much better idea.

The Samsung E330 may be small, but it is expensive and got to many features that I do not want. The nokia 3100 seems ok, but is a bit much, but I suppose it is sim free. The Nokia 6610i offers more than I want.

The problem with phones with other stuff on is that the battery dies to quick.

Everyone I know that have a phone with all these bits on have to recharge the thing almost everyday.

I think it could be the Nokia 1100, bbgut the phone that is just a phone sounds good as well, if it did not accept SMS, that would be even better, it would give me a excuse not to reply to the things. the only problem is I hate Vodafone.

I know, maybe I am being too fussy.

I am still loking around. Mobile phone shops do not seem interested in helping me and look at me as if I am silly.

Maybe I should just give up having a mobile phone full stop.

Thanks for you help anyway all you people;.

Don't you mean the other way around........LED is the old technology and LCD the most up-to-date!

No, LED (light emitting Diode) is what make your screen colour, LCD (liquid crystal Display) can only display in black and what ever the other colour is.

LCD is what the old Nokia 3310 and al the other old phones have got. LED is what most news phones have.
LED is a pain to see in the bright sun, my Sendo got a LED display and I can not see the blasted thing in day light.
My Digital camera and my Camcorder also got a LED screen and both a pain in the behind.

See, if any one thinks I am a Luddite, I do like technology, but there ar times when it gets too much.

Most new phones have a normal TFT LCD display, which can be a bit of an arse to use in daylight, better ones have a transflective TFT LCD, which is great for daylight use. Quite where you got LED from i don't know, except perhaps that the samsungs et al of this world use the new OLED technology for the outer basic screens now. If you're looking for an old style monochrome LCD, i don't know many phones that use that now! If you look about though, a transflective screen is fine for daytime use.

As mobile phones advance with all these new features you dont want, so does the battery life on them too, youd be suprised! A few of my old nokias would last maybe 2 or 3 days if that, my sony ericsson k700i (mp3 player, camera, etc) would last a whole week without turning it off, of course i wasnt always using the camera or mp3 player but when i did it had little effect. My newest samsung e720 (1 MegaPixel camera, mp3 player, dual screens etc.) lasts even longer as it is a newer fone and they are becoming more efficient and batteries being able to last longer. So my advice is that you have a new phone that just has a basic camera (as most phones now do and they arent that expensive) as you will find the battery life of more modern phones is excellent

Silly me, they do not use LEDs, sorry, t6hinking about something else. but the fact remains they are still a apin in the neck to see in the daytime. There is a couple that still use the old monocrome LCD.

At the moment my phone is still hanging on, so I will keep it for a while longer or as long as it keeps going anyway.
I am one of these people that do not change phones just because they gone out of fasion, at the end of the day, I use the phone for making and recieving calls and that is all I want.

If battery life have advanced as muich as you say, then on a phone with less features it will last for even longer. Why do I want a phone with a camera? I have already said I do not require a phone with a camera, I will be paying for something which is not used and it will also make the phone larger.
this is the one thing I like about my Sendo, it is credit card size and very thin and no aerial. Only two faults, the screen is a pain in the neck to see in the sun, but then most phones are like that now and I could not get a case to protect it, if I could it would be in better condition and I would not be waiting for it to break down.

So if manufactures concentrated on giving us long batterylife instead of silly things like cameras, mp3 player and anything else they seem to build into mobile phones now, we could have phones without changing on standby for weeks.

Thanks for the reply anyway.
