Question Nokia 6680 or Motorola A1000?

I have seen the specs (the Moto one is a bit simple!) for both but which is best?

I have seen the 6680 turned into a GPS with a bluetooth GPS receiver, but whats the A-GPS that the Moto has? Will it do the same?

How does the touch screen work out with the Moto? Does the handwriting recognition stretch to writing text messages? Whats the mem expandable to - limit?

Moto has bigger screen, Nokia has more colours.......

Ahrrrr!

Steve,

I haven't used the Motorola but I have 2 6680's. Superb phone, thoroughly recommend it.

One of 'em's for sale in the classifieds

I am guessing you are either on 3 or considering joining 3.To be honest either of these phones are a bit wasted on 3.The reason being they are smartphones and capable of so much more. However most of the cool stuff like messenger requires the internet which ofcourse 3 prevent you from accessing.I have used both extensively and would have to say go for the 6680.Always having to get the pen out is a real PITA especially if u just want to send a quick yes/no type text. With the 6680 the software catalogue is also much more vast

HTH

yes, I have the 6680, and it is a wonderful phone.... works nice on virgin, but no email (comming soon.. ) I might get t-mobile just for the email access...

only thing about 3, it works when it works, and when it doesnt, its a POS....

I dont have 3, but a lot of people got the 6630 on 3, and thought the phone was *totally crap* -- then they switched to T-mobile, switched off 3, and found it a quite nice phone....

moral of the story, it may be a bit more expensive 'sim-free' , but *you* get to choose what works, not your provider....

Get the 6680 but not on 3 - see my post about 3

The smart phone facilities if you are on 3 will be wasted

No ability to install progs like agile messenger, you wont be able to configure your pop3 email on it, and nor will you be able to use the internet in a decent way.

I got the 6680 with vodaphone but to be honest any network but 3 will be better

Can't comment on the moto - but the 6680 is an excellent phone

ahh, quick question, mcav - how is your MP3 ringtone or sending capability?? any other limitations?

It's just because I hear these stories, and want to know the truth from a user!!

To anyone else still thinking, main things I like about the 6680..
- large screen for long SMS! (also list screen shows first few words... )
- you can move the 'function' icons about! - in and out of folders, and to a place you can easily get to them...
- 'active standby' screen, with 5 functions of your choice, and calendar & 'to do' reminders below.
