Help with accessing network files on PDA with WiFi

Hi all,

I have just bought a CF WiFi card for my Axim X5 and it's connecting fine and browsing the net is a new experience.

The other reason I bought it was to connect to a share on my network and play MP3's direct from there only I'm not having much success?

I can connect to the network share fine, I can see the file in explorer on the PDA but when I click it ...NADA. If I copy the file from there to my SD card it opens fine??

I also get the same when trying to view jpegs...am I fighting a losing battle? Am I trying to do something that can't be done?

Worth mentioning running PPC2002 and also my Windows Media Player is corrupt (won't run - really need to do a hard reset but been putting it off) so I'm using Pocket Music which with it's big buttons (ie ability to use my chipolata fingers ) work well for me.

Any and all advice much appreciated.

Glen

Hi,

there's some great reading here and here
I've got an IPAQ 4150 and can do everything you mention, including streaming Video to it, wirelessly, from my PC
- I followed ideas for the Axim to get it to work....
Read through the above and good luck.....

Right, sorted it. I ended up using Netuse http://blogs.ssw.com.au/joehardy/arc...07/28/288.aspx free app that is an alternative to file explorer. It allows you to map to the share and execute the file direct.

Only gripe is I can only run one file at a time and it would be nice to queue up more than one mp3 . Never mind, halfway there
