Nokia 6230 or XDAII?
I need to get a new mobile and can choose from a list including these 2. The 6230 looks impressive but I only normally only use voice and text so the advanced features may be wasted on me. I like the idea of carrying my diary with me though and the possibitity to sync with MS outlook.
Any thoughts?

The 6230 has a diary (organiser) and you can sync it with outlook too...

I know they're quite different. I like the idea of a PDA but I don't know if I'd get on with the XDA as a standard phone though

What would you want to use a PDA for?

I have the SPV M1000 which is the rebadged XDA II on Orange. I use it as my main phone, mostly with a bluetooth headset. It's great, imho! I love the fact that I can surf the net through GPRS on a reasonably decent sized screen. I guess that being a consultant means having the extra functionality is of benefit to me too. I don't find it that bulky although it is bigger than most new PDAs, but then I don't have to carry a separate phone at the same time. I am going to buy a wireless access card for the SD card slot so I can surf at even quicker speeds in various wireless hotspots.

ive gotan xda II mainly for the tom tom nav software.
it is a great phone, i would have had to have a phone and a pda, but it makes things, especially my dash board, so much easier with just one device.
thumbs up from me!

I would say forget em both and get a P910i, not too big loads of functions PDA wise and a decent sized screen

I've just got a Motorola A1000 on 3. Its a very good PDA style phone and its quite small as well, smaller than P910 and XDAII.
Best of all it was "free", with a bluetooth headset, docking station, half price line rental for 8 months (so for the 1st 8 months its only £20 pm for 750 anytime/anynetwork mins and 150 txt per month.)

Shoehorn,
I work in a mobile sense and it may be nice to be able to download some documents for review, which I often do with others on a conference call. I can do this on the XDA I Guess. The main attraction for me though is having one contact list and diary between my laptop and phone.

A solution would be a Smartphone such as the Orange SPV C500 or T-Mobile SDA. They combine the best features of a PDA in a conviently sized phone!

I have the 6230 and it's synced with outlook on my PC... contacts, diary, notes, etc.
I also have an IPAQ 4150, it's a lot more straight forward to sync and a lot easier to read too... (and you can see docs)
If I had to pick on or the other for an all in one, it'd be the 6230 - I can pick up e-mails, etc., but cannot read attachments.....
Still you could bluetooth it with your laptop I guess...
Hope that helps....
