Buying an unlocked US mobile

I want to verify this if anyone can help me.

I've seen a phone that's US only and network unlocked (I wish they'd call them sim-free like us!). Is there any consideration I should be aware of about buying such a handset.

The charger isn't a problem - it's a Motorola phone - and I have 2 charger types from Motorola - the "Usual" type and the USB type with the V3.

The phone is Tri band or Quad band - so no obvious issues there.

I can't see any issue to obtaining the handset - but just to be sure, anyone wish to comment ?

TIA

Well in the US tri band could mean 850/1800/1900MHz in which case you would be able to use it on 900MHz networks such as Vodafone or O2 in the UK. Check exactly which frequencies the phone operates at. Also make sure it is a GSM phone as they do use some other systems in the US (which also use SIM cards)
