GPRS now available on Virgin

Earlier this month, Virgin sneaked out their GPRS service.

I only noticed because a Virgin store had a window poster for a T610 and I thought "hmm, camera phone, maybe GPRS is now available".

Sure enough, the answer is "yes".

If you want the relevant settings to be downloaded to your phone, follow this link:here.

It's not cheap, they charge something like 0.5p per Kb so 1 Meg would work out at £5.12 which seems rather expensive.

What I would really like to do is access the net via my Ipaq, using my Nokia 6310i as a GPRS modem, however Virgin only seem to be interested in WAP over GPRS at the moment.

If anybody knows how to get a Pocket PC online using GPRS and Bluetooth, please enlighten me. I already have it working with another SIM card (by Orange), but so far Virgin is a no go.

I found this info which appears to work -

Well, I got Virgin GPRS working on my laptop, using a nokia.
The only other thing I had to do was set a proxy in my browser. ie
on internet explorer tools, connection, settings use proxy server
193.30.166.4 port 8080. Don't know if this applies to Palms.

This enabled browsing, but still couldn't use my mail program.
The only other bonus was that this was on 6th July and I still haven't
been billed for it.
