changing O2 tarif

Im just wondering,

My ex got a contract phone on O2 about 5 months ago from a shop in town, and she is now wondering if she can change her tarif to an on line one where value for money is much better.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yes it can be done.

Although 3 months is generally banded around, I never found any mention in my O2 contract of a need to wait any particular length of time before swaping tarrifs.

I don't think you can alternate between High Street, and Online Tariffs...

I may be wrong, but the last time I attempted to link the two (another matter altogether), I was told that they were two distinct offshoots of O2 - in effect two different companies

I don't think that O2 will allow you to do this.

I went to an O2 shop and the contract they gave me was an online one! When I questioned this, they told me that changing to any o2 tarrif would not be a problem.

There is no mention in any of my contract documents (December 03) of any time period before changing would be allowed - only that I was commited to O2 for 12 months.

After one month, I called O2 to request a change to a leisure tarrif (which is a High Street one) and they did it no problem, no questions. I was prepared for a bit of an argument, but it did not happen.

Check your contract (and terms and conditions online) to see if there is any mention of a need to wait before downgrading, if it does not say anything then you are free to change.

If you get a problem with an operator, ask to speak to a supervisor and ask them to point out the relevent clause in your contract.
