iPhone or HTC HD2

I have been looking at getting an iPhone 3GS recently but i have now started to look at the HTC HD2 which i must say is impressive but is it better then the iPhone? to me the iPhone is good for apps and internet, but after how long will the apps get boring?

The HTC also seems good on internet and has apps albeit not as much at present, the HTC also runs on WM, would this be an issue as i have seen a few ppl say various things about it being poor and not stable. Does it not have android or does it even matter?

The bigger screen is appealing and it seems it can do exactly the same as the iPhone minus the amount of apps.

In have also toyed with the idea of waiting for the newer HTC's such as the desire and the legend but these dont have the appealing massive screen and i dont think look as nice.

I have had both and would go for the iPhone if you only want one or the other. Had a Iphone 3G for about 18 months and loved it but fancied a change which has been quite hard trying to find something better.
I tried the HD2 but as its based on WM its a pain but it does have the HTC sense which is very good. Screen is fantastic but its drains power like nothing else. There are loads and loads of windows apps but they are scattered all over the net and dont look as pretty as the iPhone ones.
Just bought the Nexus One and so far its great. Screen is in between the HD2 and iPhone and it runs off Android which is very smooth. It lacks the sheer amount of apps that the iPhone has but the Android store is growing. So maybe its worth having a look at?
In the end if its mostly music, videos and games the Iphone wins hands down IMHO but this could change as Andriod is getting better.

I have played with the HTC HD2 and really like it, i think the size is fantastic and perfect for going online, i was seriously considering it as a change from my iphone 3gs.

i know android and the iphone has a much better app store (more centralised) and windows 6.5 is considered buggy, but i hardly had to deal with windows at all as the sense overlay dealt with most everyday task admirably.

What put me off in the end was the fact that the new windows 7 os would not be available as an upgrade for it, i feel that the developers would abandon windows 6.5 and i would be left with a handset that would be at a deadend, this would make it difficult to sell second hand as it would be far less desirable with an obsolete os.

i would go for a mobile with the HTC specs running android in a shot...

At the moment the HD2 is still the Windows Mobile phone to have, and depending on your view you either love or hate the look of WP7, there are a lot of people who would rather keep the HD2 with WinMo 6 that have WP7 as it looks far less versatile and open than the current WM OS, I'm trying to sell a spare HD2 at the moment and certainly having no problems with interest so I wouldn't say its undesirable as a second hand sale.

There is a massive comparison thread already that goes into great detail comparing the two here: HTC HD2 or iPhone?

Please read that and please search before posting.

The iPhone. All the time.

Nothing matches it in ease of use, i no longer use mine as a phone (just as an ipod touch) and my current phone doesn't compare in that respect. Higher specced it might be, but it aint no iPhone!

The HD2 is a fantastic piece of hardware let down by rubbish software. Owning an IPOD touch I just felt let down by the lack of apps available on winmo. Things I use all the time on the touch such as sky sports and flixster was just unrepresented on the hd2. I'm going to try android next as there seems to be more choice regarding apps, why not ignore both apple and winmo and go for a HTC Desire? Just reread your post and regarding your thoughts about screen size the hd2 screen was really nice but so is the screen on the iphone and to be honest I thought the presentation of onscreen menus, icons and apps were far better on my touch.

I've always been amazed at the amount of software and applications you can get for any window Mobile device.

There is a wealth of stuff out there. Granted its not upto iPhone app statandard, but for sheer quantity......

Some Apps never get boring, i prefer iPhone over the HTC, i mean whats the point of having a phone with large screen and that too a touch screen? iPhone is good for internet and gaming.

Iv got the HTC HD2 and its an awesome bit of kit, I dont know why people are saying its buggy or unreliable, I use it all day with multiple programs running all at the same time and its still fast flicking between the different programs and apps, Iv never had an iphone but i do believe this is something the iphone cant do (or maybe I will be shot down ha)
Internet on this device is very very good it is flash compatible and I am yet to come across a site that wont work, although I have been using it on wifi as apposed to through the phone as it is not very quick that way.

Battery life sucks balls though so I am going to purchase another battery yes it really is that bad especially as I have downloaded coreplayer so I can watch my AVI downloads without conversion on the large 4.3" screen.

I would not swap this for an iphone for love nor money, but this is my biased opinion only

Good luck in your decision Im sure whichever you choose you will be more than happy with as they are the leading phones at this present time for their own reasons.
