Push Email options on different phones ?...

Having experienced a smartphone for the first time with the N97 I am thoroughly converted.

My best use is the free push email.

I plan to upgrade to either the HTC Desire or X10 or the Nexus One.

But can anyone advise I can achieve the same push email setup with those phones please.

I know I a google account will push email on the Nexus One.

Welcome info on how other people are doing it.

What email provider do you use? This is more important than your handset choice if you want Push Email and the easiest of all is Googlemail, which has three different Push email options, depending on the platform.

I have a hotmail account that is pushed via Nokia messaging to my N97 on T-Mobile.

All my other work related emails are forwarded to my hot mail account so everything ends up via the hotmail account to my phone. This was I only lo into one place.

I don't have a google mail at the moment

Windows Mobile based phones will be a good choice. And Nokia Messenger supports Push for Hotmail, as you've already found.

On the iPhone, there is an App called mBox that offers Hotmail Push. It costs a couple of pound but it works, so it's worth it.

I think SEVEN on Android offers push for Hotmail too, although I've not tested it at all.

So you're pretty well covered but sadly, there is little native support for Hotmail Push on platforms so you are looking at a third party App of some sort.

Personally, I would make the move to Googlemail. Then you have the option of using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) via Google Mobile Sync on phones that support it (this covers a lot of platforms), you have the native GMail App on Android and you also have BIS support for Blackberry.
It too can collect your email from multiple sources into one location, but you get the benefit of fantastic anti-spam controls and integration with Google Docs, Calendar etc.

But if this move isn't for you, there are options for Hotmail Push.

Thanks for your help, Rob.
I have only used the hotmail account for the last 20 odd years.
Has been very reliable for me so far with plenty of space.
I've now opened a googlemail account just incase.

Have a play and see what you think, but I do believe it to be the best mobile email provider. Even more so if you have an Android handset.

The other thing with Googlemail I didn't mention, is if you import your contacts into it both Android and Exchange supporting handsets allow you to Sync these as well as the calendar. So any changes you make to contacts and calendar on your phone is immediately transferred and backed up to Googlemail, so you have no fears about losing your contacts if you lose your phone.

It's great for me as I change phones so often, I just punch in my account details and carry on from where I left off
