I used to own a Blackberry storm and would say that would do everything that you have mentioned above. However, about 2 months ago I got a iPhone 3gs and IMO it's in a different league. It would certainly do everything that you want and apps like Sky Sports Football, safari for the internet browsing and if you are with Natwest they have a online banking app it makes life very easy to stay connected.

For what you need it for the iPhone would definitely be up to the job......I'm sure many of the other new high end phones would also be just as good but I don't have the experience of the other models to advise.

With one exception, you can do all you want with a phone. Personally, I find the iPhone browser limited in comparison to other mobile browser, but you may think differently.

The one exception is on-line banking. Unless your bank does a mobile app, its unlikely to work. Most online banks very tightly control which browsers their site works with and most will refuse to work with a mobile browser. Its bizarre really as mobile browsers are inherently more secure than PCs. (The only worm ever seen in the wild on a mobile could only work on jailbroken iPhones. - the old CABIR symbian 7 'virus' couldn't transmit personal details and was never seen in the wild)
