Question PAC code query

I have a mobile on 3 under my wife's name. It has 2mths remaining on the contract. (18mth contract, where upgrade was available last month).

I wish to leave 3, and to get a mobile on Orange under my Dad's name.

Can I (my wife) request a PAC code from 3 to use when I set up the new Orange contract in my Dad's name?

If I request the PAC code, will my liability be simply for the remaining 2mths line rental of the 3 contract?

I just wish to keep my current number, as changing numbers will mean changing a lot of related records

Hi mate.

You cannot transfer a number whilst in contract, so basically you have 2 options.

1) Wait until there is only 30 days remaining in your contract period, then call up giving your notice to end contract and request your PAC code.

2) Call 3, pay off remaining balance of contract, which will therefore end it and request PAC code at same time.

Hope this helps buddy.

Dave

Yeah, I knew that I couldn't transfer the number whilst in contract.

My main question is whether I can use a PAC code for a contract registered under one name, to set up a contract in a totally different name?

As for your point 2, will the liability be for 2mths line rental? (Contract is fully up-to-date). Would it be likely there would be any other fees?

No other fees, just the line rental

Not 100% sure about the other question though, I guess a call to the CS of whoever you're porting too would be worth a go.

Pretty sure you shouldn't have a problem mate, but may be best to check it out as said above.

Yes, you can port the number from your mum's contract to a new one in your dad's name.
