O2 Upgrade Question

I am due an upgrade from O2 ( November last year actually) but wasn;t contacted as I was the time before and basically forgot it was overdue. Do I take it I am now on a rolling monthly contract until I tell them otherwise and so free to leave if I choose and if so how much notice do I have to give?

The reason I ask is I am looking at a cashback deal to go towards a new laptop ( one i can choose rather than a thrown in one ) and you seem to get better cashback deals as a new customer rather than upgrading.

Don't get me wrong I have been happy with O2 but there seem to be better deals out there and only want a basic touchscreen phone really that has an organiser on it.
Any help most welcome as I have been out the new phone loop for 2 years and still have a sony K850i on a £ 30 per month deal.

You will be lucky to find a cashback deal anywhere now.

There aren't many places that even do them anymore.

The cancellation requirements may vary with older contracts, but you can either give 30 days notice or you can request a PAC to port your number to your new provider. When you use the PAC this will have the effect of cancelling your contract. The only thing to be aware of is that you will receive a final bill so don't cancel the direct debit until you are sure the final bill is paid.
