Question O2 sim in an N97 mini fromVodafone

Hello All

I recently lost my SE C905 . I have a pay monthly O2 contract.

My Dad has a vodafone contract and being over 50 doesnt like change. He has a free upgrade and has never taken it because he likes his Blackberry Pearl.

If I go ahead a get an N97 mini from Vodafone will I have any problems in using this with my O2 sim?
I've read I'll need to get an activation code from Vodafone to use other sim cards in the phone, will that be a problem? Can they say no?
Also on the O2 website you can get settings sent to the phone to configure gprs, internet, email etc... But O2 don't offer this service for the N97 as they don't sell that phone. Will it be a problem setting this phone up?

Your help will be massively appreciated

Thanks

I am using a Vodafone N97 Mini with my 02 sim card. Vodafone no longer lock their contact handsets so you will not need any unlock code from Vodafone.

The Vodafone N97 mini will have some software branding but this can easily be removed.

As for the 02 settings, the handset will recognise that you have put a different sim card in and will automaticaly sort the 02 settings out for you.

amazing news

so no access code needed to get my sim to work?

you mentioned it's fairly easy to remove the vodafone branding.
how easy?

i hate it when you boot up a phone and get engulfed by network branding

Very easy to do .......... You need to change the product code by using a programme called NNS Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) Download and then use NOKIA Software update.

Any problems?

to those who are using an O2 sim in an N97 mini, is it a pay as you go sim or contract?
Also, have you had any problems with anything? Staff in phone shops have mentioned various problems including, GPRS and picture messaging.

Thanks

nokia N97 mini mms settings - O2

Hi ,

I have recently got a Nokia N97 mini which was on Vodafone. I put my O2 sim card in it and tried the various ways to get the mms setting but O2 say that they don't do this phone therefore don't have the specific setting for the phone!!

They sent me some generic setting which I had to manually impute which work for the internet (and still do) and did work for picture messaging for a few days but then stopped working . I have tried imputing them again but it just isn't working.

can anyone help???

Thanks.
