More mobile advice, HTC, Sony etc

OK, I'm about to make my final decision and I will continue to appreciate your advice!

I've been offered the following contract and I'm just not sure what handset to go for!

1,000 minutes per month (Any UK Network, Europe, USA & Canada)
UNLIMITED UK landline calls (01, 02, 03 numbers – anytime, no limits!)
UNLIMITED text messages
UNLIMITED Internet & E-mail
FREE calls between all users
ALL calls from UK to Europe USA and Canada (zones 1, 2 and 3) included in inclusive minutes

Handsets all free, contract price changes a bit

Sony Satio - £25pm + VAT
HTC Hero - £20pm + VAT
HTC HD2 - £30pm + VAT and not available yet.

Is the Hero a good handset in comparison with the other two? I know it's older but I've heard that it is getting Android 2.0 and therefore the free Google GPS which appeals...

Thanks :D

I'm scarily close to pulling the trigger on the Hero...

...but I'm not sure how well it's going to sync with my Mac

Re: More mobile advice, HTC, Sony etc

Hi there, I've been looking into a new phone for a while, and I've heard nothing but good things about the Hero (that's an understatment by the way), and I'm personally having a strong leaning towards it when I finally upgrade/move. I can't say whether it syncs with the Mac or not, but going out on a limb, I can't see why not.

Can I ask whom that deal is with? Trying to get all my options together!

Re: More mobile advice, HTC, Sony etc

I've heard nothing but good things about the Hero. I've heard mixed reports about the Satio (although it's camera is very nice). The HD2 looks really interesting but it's a little on the large side for me personally.

That sounds like a phenomenal deal by the way, well done!

Edit: Meant to add -- don't count on Google Navigation coming to the Hero with Android 2.0. It's a US exclusive currently, and the Euro version of the Droid (Milestone) is shipping with Android 2.0 but no Google NAv (but, bizarrely, with multitouch enablled). Basically Google "own" the US maps they use, but they lease the Euro maps from Tele atlas (I believe). Tele Atlas is owned by TomTom... So, basically, we won't get Google Nav until they replace the Tele Atlas data with Google Streetview data.

Where the hell did you get that deal from?!

If I were you I'd go for the HD2, unless it's too big for you.

Re: More mobile advice, HTC, Sony etc

Well, I went for the G2/hero in the end - spent a few hours yesterday tidying up my google life to get ready for it's arrival today NicolasB - it's a business contract through t-mobile. dancingmatt on this forum posted about it - it's available if you're a sole trader or run a business.

Cheers
