Calendar Synch Advice

Really need some help on this.

Am about to upgrade and can't decide which phone to get.

The most important function is the ability to make notes, appointments etc on a phone calendar that would also show up on my pc at the same time and vica versa. Also needs to be free and fairly easy to use. Am I best going for an Android phone and use Google calendar or would the Nokia n900 using PC suite also work. I'm assuming with Windows mobile I would need to use Exchange server. Don't want an iphone as have no O2 or Orange reception at home.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Calendar Synch Advice

If you have a Googlemail/Gmail account, or you're happy to create one, you have a massive amount of choice. Google now support Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) via Google Mobile Sync so any handset that supports that will give you Push email, contact and calendar sync.

That covers every Windows Mobile handset for a start. It also covers all Android phones and the iPhone as well as numerous others I forget at this point.

What network are you on and which phones do you have the option of getting for free?

Re: Calendar Synch Advice

Thanks for the reply.

I'm with 3 and can upgrade to a Hero.

Problem is I hate the design and colour(white). Also being able to photograph client documents and save as pdf would be useful instead of having to take away and scan. The Hero has a poor camera and no flash so not sure how good it would be for this.

I have considered changing to Vodaphone(only other network I can get reception at home). This would give me choice of Hero in graphite. HTC HD2 which I think will be too big and Nokia n900 which looks the best but not sure if the calendar would be suitable.

Re: Calendar Synch Advice

I can get a graphite Hero from mobiles.co.uk on Vodaphone for £30pm with 600mins, texts and unlimited internet. Could probably upgrade with 3 for the same.

Re: Calendar Synch Advice

Sadly there aren't many smartphones that offer a camera with great photos in all conditions, as well as the PDA functions you require.

The Hero camera isn't terrible in decent light, but like most other phones, it's certainly not going to replace a standalone camera! I'd personally recommend getting the phone and PDA functions right and carrying a cheap, small camera.

The Hero is a fine choice
