Mandatory £10 Airtime purchase Argos

I'm looking to get a pay as you go replacement for my wife. We want to stay with orange and use her current SIM card and so keeping her current phone number and contacts.

The phone at Argos we've seen states £10 Airtime must be purchased with this product, does this mean we can top up her current SIM account? Or will they crowbar this onto the new phones SIM?

it has to be with the sim card that comes with the new handset its to deter box brakers buying the phones in the uk in bulk and shipping them out to say like spain and other places were the handset are much more expensive

Re: Mandatory £10 Airtime purchase Argos

Just had the same issue myself with buying a new PAYG phone.

I would look at web site "e2save" they are part of Carphone Warehouse and 99% of the PAYG phones are unlocked.

What I did was find out which network is selling the phone you want at the lowest price, then once you have used your £10 Airtime on the new sim you can then put your current sim in the phone.

I got a Samsung Tocco Lite for £68 + £10 airtime + 4Gb Sd card on vodaphone for £78, I have now used my £10 airtime up so have put my current orange sim card in the phone.

If I had bought the same phone on orange PAYG it would of cost me another £12 and because I bought 2 (one for me & one for the wife) it saved me £24.

When I bought a handset from Argos recently, the £10 top-up came as a e-voucher which could be used to top-up any phone.
