T-mobile end of contract /PAC code issues help please.

Can anyone shed any light on the best way to play this one please.

I've been with T-mob for 18 months and want to leave, my contract finishes up on the 2 Dec, so with it being the 3rd Nov i phoned up to give my 30 day notice and to request my PAC Code. The guy at customer services says there wil be a cost of £23-£25 for this. But i only want the code as i will have 30 days to activate it and i'll get a deal sorted out at the end of the month then it takes 2 days for the pac code to switch over and this should tie in with the end of my existing contract.

He said it would be better to phone up after my contract expires get my PAC code then and switch and it won' t cost me anything ......but i dont want to have to give them 30 days notice from then. He said once i transfer my PAC code i dont need to give them 30 days notice. Is this right ?

any advice greatly appreciated.

That is exactly what i got told on Thursday.. Just used my PAC today and number will be ported on Friday.

I was told that if i did'nt use my PAC within 30 days my contract would still run as normal till you advise them of your plans...
