iPhone 3G vs Palm Pre vs HTC HD2 vs Anything new coming (?)

Right, I desperately need a new phone, but here's my dilemma...

I am looking at the above phones - The iPhone 3G (not 3GS), Palm Pre and the HD2 is out on o2 soon, apparently.

I get discount on o2 tariffs, but not on the 3GS (hence no 3GS option).

So, what do I go for?

I really like the iPhone, but the OS is looking a tad dated, and it doesn't do multi-tasking. Not sure how much of an issue that would be for me. I also have a concern that it's too big.

I also really like the Palm Pre. The OS is nicer than the iPhone, and it multi-tasks. It has a better camera, and is a smaller form factor. However, the build quality is just ridiculous. If it wasn't for that, I'd be going for one. I don't want to be getting them to replace the phone constantly! Not sure if the quality would ever improve either, as it's a slider!

The HD2 is even bigger than the iPhone, and is a total outsider - not keen on WinMo, but everyone is absolutely raving out it! Why?

Blackberry doesn't interest me.

The thing that is most concerning me with buying an iPhone is that Apple is likely to bring out a completely different iPhone in June/July, with new form factor and OS; thus making mine look really old!

What do you all think?

Re: iPhone 3G vs Palm Pre vs HTC HD2 vs Anything new coming (?)

i had a similar dilemma last week.

after looking at each of the phones and really scrutinising each one i opted for the Palm Pre.

The build quality of the Palms in my opinion is not bad at all feels very strong and sturdy IMO. I have has no problems with wobbly screens or loose backs etc.

The OS is brilliant and the phone runs very quickly and efficiently all the time.

Camera is vey good, youtube player is fantastic as is playback quality.

check out chrisblinkhorn 87 on youtube for my unboxing, i have done a first impressions video and uploaded it but it is yet to show up in the searches but im sure it will at some point today.

any other questions you have on the Palm Pre ask away and i will do my best to answer them for you.

Wait for another week or so, when HD2 comes out. The playing field will be more fairer if you can walk in a store and see/feel the sets for yourself..

Personally, I am waiting for HD2, as I have made up my mind!
