Tethering between windows 3G mobile phone & Laptop

I have a 12 month T mobile contract and pay also for unlimited Internet (Data) useage per month.
If I buy a 3G Dongle (unlocked), can I use it with my T mobile SIM card so that I can freely browse the internet on my laptop?
Or do T mobile prevent tethering of this kind?
Thanks
