PAYG network. Was going to use Asda but what about others ?

I'm a light user and just need a PAYG and was going to go on Asda but then I was handed a leaflet from Vectone Mobile which is 5p for landline/mobile/text.

As that was 3p per minute cheaper than Asda at 8p, I wanted to know if I should consider any other options.

I know Asda is Vodafone and Vectone is T-Mobile.

I also have the Skype on 3 consideration but that would need to me to buy a new phone so it really a tangential argument at this time (I use 2 phones).

Any ideas or reasons to avoid Vectone ?

I've never heard of Vectone. My feeling is that Asda may offer better recourse if you have any issues.

If that's correct , Vectone Mobile @ 5p a min , I dont think you'll get anything cheaper than that .
I'm a light user too and switched to Family Mobile by Ikea last year , their prices are 9p calls ,6p txt's and I thought they were cheap .

Re: PAYG network. Was going to use Asda but what about others ?

Got some more details on Vectone. It is another virtual network, similar to those others started in the Netherlands.

Vectone Mobile Signs MVNO Deal with T-Mobile UK

New 3G MVNO for Ethnic Groups

The likes of Lebara, Lycatel etc. are targeting the ethnic communities as the pre pay cards people used for calling abroad now move to mobiles. The way I see it, whereas before you had expensive normal phones and pre paid calling cards, you now have expensive calling cards or Skype out subscriptions.

As most immigrants don't have traditional phones, then there is a need to move pre paid international calls to mobiles. I think this is where they are fitting in.

At 5p, it significantly undercuts Asda (8p) though is marginally more expensive for SMS (5p versus 4p) which does not matter for me as I only send a very few texts.

I'd like to go Asda and might well do so, but with PAYG and number portability in 2 days and with no discounts for more than minimum purchases, you can just run £5 at a time and dump them if they screw up.

For me it is Vectone or Asda at 60% more expensive ?
