Irish o2 phone in UK?

firstly i want to know about sim locking- does a phone being sim locked mean it only works with the sim card it came with or only the network it is on?

secondly- will a phone on the same network-o2- work on the o2 network in the UK? or will it need unlocking? its the palm pre im after btw
thanks for any replies

Re: Irish o2 phone in UK?

Sim locking means the phone is locked to the network.

You can roam for free in the uk so the phone will work without any additional charges as a phone bought in england will work in ireland and vice versa.

Re: Irish o2 phone in UK?

If you have a o2 sim and the phone you buy is locked to o2 you can put your sim in the phone and it will work.
