Angry Orange number porting

Anyone know if it's possible to obtain my number from Orange, but keep the contract running with a different number, ported in or otherwise?

Perhaps I should have asked - Can I give Orange a PAC from another network and retain the Orange number for use elsewhere?

In case anyone wants to know why, well, I have Virgin OVP (EQ), which is convenient for me, but whose data charging structure is changing.. therefore I want to try other options..
I know there won't be any way to ever return to the contract if I end it, should I ever feel the need to do so.. therefore I'd like to keep it running.

Re: Orange number porting

I'm not sure if this will work these days but it used to with Orange in the 'Good 'Ol Days', so here goes:

1. Ask for a new Line 2 number with their cheapest tarrif
2. Once Line 2 is set-up ring CS and asto have the L1/L2 numbers swapped - make up some story as to why you need your main number to be ..bla bla!
3. Once, (if), the numbers swap then ask for PAC for your 'special' number which should now be on L2 thus ending your 'cheap tariff' and keeping your OVP Virgin contract with new number.

john (fingers crossed)

Re: Orange number porting

Hmm, it seems that line 2 is no longer available :-/

Anyone know whether I will be able to switch an Orange PayGo number with my OVP Virgin Number, for the purposes set out in my original post. Or if there is any other way round this?

Thanks.
