Hello,

I bought a SIM Card Reader from a co on eBay UK. It came with a driver CD but didn’t state compatible with Vista, and it didn’t install properly. I downloaded another driver from the Prolific website, which installed OK.

So, I plug my o2 SIM into the Reader and plug it into a USB port on my Desktop. A Windows pop-up ‘Searching for Driver’ appears. The pop-up then states Driver is located. That’s it. Nothing happened at all. I unplugged the Reader & plugged it back in. Nothing. There seems no way to get it to work. I e.mail the Seller, who responds with a link to another Driver. I download it and execute. Same result.

No big deal, it only cost a few £££s, so I’ll chuck it.

HOWEVER….. I put the SIM back in my Nokia 6822a handset (unlocked, & owned for 2 years, no probs), switch on, & enter PIN, which is accepted. I get an onscreen message ‘Phone restricted’. I click the ‘undo’ button and it asks ‘Enter restriction code’. I try 12345 and a PUK code from o2. Neither work.

I try the SIM in another handset (Nokia 6800), and get the message ‘SIM card registration failed.

I try another SIM card in my original handset, and this won’t work, either.

Can anyone suggest what has happened here? Both handsets & SIMs OK and unlocked. Working until last night.

Also, how do I resolve it? I need my SIMs restored and my handsets working.

Responses like that won't win you any friends on here, the probable reason is because nobody else has used whatever you've bought. I sounds to me that it has corrupted your sim cards so you will need to get new ones, go to a o2 store and they will set up a new one to your account, it might be free it may cost you around a tenner oh and sign up to bluebook o2's back up service on o2.co.uk, it will sync all your contacts and messages for you foc so you need not have bought that ebay tat in the 1st place.
