PAYG suggestions

Hope someone can give me a few pointers.

My 11 yr old nephew has asked me to recommend him a PAYG phone up to £60 that will have bluetooth and play mp3's. Any other features would be a bonus.

I've absolutely no experience of PAYG phones, so would be grateful if you guys could give me a couple of recommendations that I can then look into.

Cheers.

Re: PAYG suggestions

Ah right, I've just looked at the price of the 6300 online. It has held its value well because it works. My own old-skool 6230i is in the same vein - phones that do what you want without frills, and won't die on you just from a little drop

Try second hand such as on the forum and look for one in good nick. As he is 11 he's probably not going to be too fussed if it is not shop bought

Re: PAYG suggestions

Cheers for that LFC. I've emailed him links for the 2 suggested but told him that as a long time Nokia owner I'd go for that. I noticed that the 6300 is about £25 more but based on the 2 reviews seemed the better option.

His dad can make up the difference.

Just had a thought, can a PAYG sim go in any phone? I have a spare unlocked N95 that I was going to send to envirophone, but he can have it for £90 if it will work.

Re: PAYG suggestions

Nokia 6300 would get my vote (it usually does with these questions!) as just like LFC_SL says, it works. Great little phone and extremely reliable.

If the phone itself is unlocked for use with any network, or was supplied on the same network as you have a PAYG SIM for, then it will work.

Thanks...I'll check with his mum beforehand in case the N95 will attract the wrong kind of attention from his school mates. Otherwise it will be the 6300.

Re: PAYG suggestions

Forget the N95. I think you need to let them get to Year 10 beginning GCSE age before trusting them not to lose/drop/break or deny losing/dropping/breaking gadgets

Personally speaking
