Is O2's "unlimited wifi" bolt-on worth paying for?

See subject.

I live in Walthamstow (London, E17). My office is on Piccadilly (W1J).

Well, O2's service offers lots of wi-fi "hotspots" when you're out and about so you don't have to depend on the 3G connection when you're not at work (as I understand it). I'm just wondering how useful people find it.

I dont know about O2 specific wifi but alot of places now offer free wifi so if u use these i dont see why u should have to pay O2 anything at all unless im missing something.

My office at work has a wifi network that i use with my phone when there and it doesnt cost me anything at all, the only time i pay is if i use the orange 3g network which is very rare.

Re: Is O2's "unlimited wifi" bolt-on worth paying for?

I use it a lot as I'm often in hotels, motorway services or airports where there are Hot Spots. It's often faster than 3G/HSDPA and as I got it free with my iPhone contract, it automatically connects whenever I'm in range so it's a fairly seamless experience switching from WiFi to 3G.

In all honesty though only you can say if it's worth it. If you're in Hot Spots a lot and would make good use of it, it's worth the cash. If not, try starting with just a Data bundle and see how often you find you miss the WiFi access or wish you had it.

depends if you have a hot spot near you, o2 uses cloud for wifi so check their site for hotspot location, i prefer 3g as you always have gsm reception but not wifi
