Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Hello,

On the 5th of this month I contacted Orange to cancel my contract due to the pending price increase, I asked for my PAC code to be sent and I got a text the same day saying it had been sent out. No sign of it so I called Orange today, they said it was sent on the 5th in the post, I told him i had not received it. I asked if he could tell me the PAC code over the phone but the guy said he is not allowed and would send it to my phone in a text. I told him that I don't have access to my texts any more as I discarded the SIM as I have a new contract with another provider. But he was admanent that he could only send it as a text!

Is their any other way of getting my PAC code? It needs to be sorted ASAP as I now have 2 contracts on the go!

Thanks.

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Weird, I received my PAC from them on Saturday and my number was transferred over today... no more walking around with two phones like a pimp!

I'd call again and ask if they can send the text to your new number... or send it in the mail again.

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Previously, I have found Orange very difficult to deal with - a string of broken promises and over billing. If the first person you talk to can't help, ask for their supervisor, keep going until you get someone who can/will help, having done this though, I got the feeling that sometimes they'd just bounce me to a colleague of theirs to give the same answer. Basically, good luck - you could always try going into a Orange shop?

Will they be able to give a PAC code? Hmm might be worth a try.

I know its a different provider but I had a problem with Vodafone not sending my PAC code so I called up and they read it out over the phone. Also I think there are certain rules they have to adhere to, one being that they have to give you your PAC code within 2 working days.

Rubbish, left Orange for O2 for the iPhone, I was on pay as you go, called up, stated I wanted my PAC, was passed to retentions and given rubbish like the Orange Blackberry syncs with iTunes better then the iPhone! just listened then demanded my PAC.
Left it about 3 day's, called them up, first person I spoke to gave it to me over the phone no problem.

I have also never heard of people not being given it over the phone so long as it is generated, it's on the systems. Just keep calling till you get through to someone who is nice, obviously just be nice to them, call in the daytime too.

The PAC they will have generated is also only valid for 30 day's so you need to get it and use it within that time:

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

I had a real nightmare yesterday evening. The first person i got was a young woman who seemed to be nice, she stated she can't give it me over the phone and i explained i don't have acess to my texts any more. She said she will send it to another mob number (my new one). 30 mins later nothing, so i phone again and i get what i can only describe as a n*b head. He said they cannot give me any information over the phone and that the only way is to send it out in the post again. This is really burning my head out.

Call them up and demand to speak to a team leader or manager, don't accept the 'cannot do that' or the 'they will call you back' lines as that'll be rubbish too. Just say you want to hear it from someone with higher authority or someone that is allowed to break the rules. If you don't get anywhere try and see if you can speak to retentions?

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Start noting the calls you make, who you speak to, and the outcome of the call. Each time, inform the operator that you are doing so and you shall be passing the information onto Orange's complaints department and the Telecoms watchdog as by failing to give you the PAC code, they are breaking the law (not sure if it's law, or just terms of service).

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/telecoms/ioi...ustryGuide.pdf - It sounds like you have to be given the PAC within two days of the request - the post will take too long.

It was retentions who I spoke to on both occasions. If it has not arrived in the post tomorrow I will be on their case with the provided OFCOM information!

In that case speak to the normal customer services, that's who gave me my PAC, maybe they are trying to force you to stay?

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Theyve done a U-Turn on the price changes so wont be giving out PAC's for those reasons anymore.

I believe they still honour those who asked for a PAC before the U-turn.

Re: Getting a PAC code from Orange.

Well, eventually I got my PAC code, I must have dropped on a decent honest CSA in the call centre, as he gave it me over the phone! Why they couldn't do this when I first asked for it on the 5th is beyond me!

Due to swap over tomorrow
