i-phone or Google Phone?

Hi my girlfriends contract is up on her mobile soon and she fancies a I-phone, but has been offered a google phone from her current services provider (tmobile) not knowing too much about mobiles what are the main difference and which would be higher recommended?

Also shes been offered a older 2g i-phone which she could o2 sim of her choice in, would this be a good choice for features without having to pay a £35 a month contract?

Cheers steve

Re: i-phone or Google Phone?

If she uses the camera "a lot" then the iPhone may not suit as it's more limited. BUT for ease of use, loads of apps, nice screen and user interface the iPhone is superb.

I compared lots of phones - most of the current XDA models on o2, HTC clones, and nearly all are poor when it comes to battery life. Some people in our company have been issued HTC models and despite similar features to the iPhone the constant complaint i hear from users is "battery life". I would class myself as an "average" user in that I use email quite a lot, make about 15 to 30 minutes of calls a day, listen to music and the iPhone is coping quite well, I charge it up about every other day.

Re: i-phone or Google Phone?

The 'Google' phone that TBag are offering will be the G1, which is a decent phone but with looks only a mother could love. But the Android software it runs on is the only OS that can match the iPhone for user experience. It's every bit as pretty to look at.

If she wants a good camera though, both the iPhone and the G1 will disappoint.

I would recommend waiting until the Apple WWDC is over, by which time there should hopefully be a new iPhone announced.

I would also think carefully about what she actually needs and wants a phone to do. There isn't a phone around that ticks every single possible box, so think about the priorities and you'll be able to find a good match... with a little help from AVForums if needed

The iPhone has pretty terrible battery life, my HTC Touch HD lasts ages. Id have neither apple or google and get a Touch diamond2 or touch pro2 instead.

Re: i-phone or Google Phone?

The iPhones battery is just the same as most other smartphones. You wont notice a huge difference between any of the current crop and with 'normal' use, you can expect two easy days before it needs charging.

This has certainly been the case for the X1i, Touch Pro, iPhone, Palm Treo Pro, Touch HD and HTC Magic. There isn't much between them in this aspect.

Cut out WiFi and Bluetooth or turn off push email and things get better. But again, that's the case for all of them.

Re: i-phone or Google Phone?

cool cheers for the replies, camera's not a issue really as we have a seperate 10megapixel, think it'll mostly be used for the music player and games/apps with occasional calls/txts,

Shes been offered a older 2g i-phone which would mean she'd be able to get a cheaper contract sim to go in it, is the difference in the 2g to the 3g or the new 3gs(?) worth the extra 15/20 quid a month for a new one?

sorry about all the questions, i dont know too much about mobiles these days.

Have you looked at the htc magic? it runs google android and is a lovely thing, not got the build quality feel of the iphone but its lovely and the deals are better. Plus it is unlocked from the shelf.
