I've not seen anything about this movie that's apparently getting made. But I'm assuming it'll be made around the PS1 MGS story (better had be!)

In which case, Kurt Russel is now too old. Sam Elliot, nah, just not doing it for me. Tom Selleck? Possibly, I could see that. Dennis Haysbert should be the colonel on the codec (whom I always thought was black, MGS4 was quite a shock).

I remember back in the days of MGS1 at college thinking Kurt Russel for Solid, Patrick Swayze for Liquid. That wouldn't work now though. Too old/ill.

I think that whoever plays him though, his voice should be dubbed over by David Hayter (Spelled right?)

Christian Bale's dark knight voice pales in comparison to the god awful old snake voice David Hayter put on for mgs4. Sounded like he had a throat infection....

That was definately a case of him having too much involvement with 'his' character over the years.

I agree that Hugh Jackman is the best candidate for it, looks like Snake already, just needs to smoke 60 a day to get the accent right...
