Well I finally put MGS4 into my PS3 tonight to play and it will not go past the first screen where you have to press x (This game saves data automatically, do not turn off when the HDD access light flashes)

Anyone else had this problem?? It will not respond to presses of the x (I have tried all others aswell) all I can do is exit to the XMB and try again but the same happens (btw I am using a UK game on a US PS£ if that makes any difference)

Might have to pop down to game tomorrow and see if they can swap it

Have you tried re-assigning the PS3 controller to controller '1'?

Yep, Tried that and still no good. BUT..............Fixed now!!...........I had the dongle for my rock band guitar in one of the USB slots and for some reason when I took it out it worked, Strange that this is the only game it does it with though!!??

That's good. I have a USB IR dongle plugged in and if I switch on the PS3 using the controller I have to re-assign the controller to '1' otherwise I have the same issue.

Had the same problem and can confirm it was the GH Guitar dongle. Took it out, no problem.
