im wondering how long the game takes to complete? how many acts are there

No idea how long to complete, but according to the game guide there are 5 acts.

Depends how you play, I have only completed Act 1 and have already clocked 5 hours.

I completed Heavenly Sword in about 6 hours.

Also Metal Gear is the type of game you will want to play many times over.

Well I am on act 4 and it took me 13 hours to get there on normal I have been pretty comprehensive. I think it will be around 20 hours if you do it properly.

Once you complete the game and start again, are you able to then skip the cut scenes?

Not that i want to 1st time around, but 2nd time around you'd want to get on with it.

i played on normal solid first go and it took me 20 hours 23mins and that included watching all cut scenes

I completed the whole game on naked normal in 15 hours.

I'm on the default solid normal setting.

It took me two hours from the start of act 1 (after the intro scenes) to get to the very first destination. Never died so much

At this rate it should keep me occupied for years

I'm beginning to get the hang of it now though

I completed the first two acts in just under 10 hours.

It can be done in less than five hours....took me 20 Hours 22 minutes on the default difficulty.

Once you've completed it on a normal difficulty play it again with the difficulty bumped up to maximum.

It feel like a very different game with the enemies far more sensitive to your presence/movements,and there is a much wider variety of weapons/mods available on the second play

I haven't been back to this since the day I loaded it. It took so long to get going that I had a few minutes of actual play, got killed and switched off because I had to rebuild my gaming PC and the new HDD had arrived. I haven't been back to it because, in my mind, the length of time it took with the cutscenes didn't make it very engaging so I've been playing Assassins Creed on my revitalised gaming rig. I do mean to play MGS but it isn't the most inspiring game as far as grabbing your interest with the gameplay at the start. I assume it becomes more engaging as it progresses.

Hideo Kojima has always been criticised (unfairly in my view) for too many cutscenes and not enough gameplay, so at the start of MGS4 he keeps taking control away from the player - it's a thinly-veiled dig at his critics

Once you get around the first corner the game gets going properly

I got to near the end of the final act within 20 hours on normal within the first few days of owning it but I have not gone back to complete it yet. I am not that convinced of the replay value of it, also much of the gameplay length is actually cut scenes.

Apparently somebody ripped all the videos and codecs out of the game and put them into a video - they total 9.5 hours

That depends on how much of a completionist you are. I finished it last friday and haven't played it again yet, but I definately will play through again at some point to try to gain some of the different awards. I played through Uncharted about 3 months after the 1st completion and still enjoyed it. I am looking forward to playing MGS4 again but want to leave it a while so I don't remember every little detail.

Took me 16 hours on my first playthrough on Solid Normal but that includes watching all cut scenes

First go, I took my time, enjoyed the sights etc and clocked 24 hours on solid normal...long but so worth every second

Will I'am now starting Act 5 and been playing for over 17 hours , Mate of mine finished his in about 21 hours
