The weird blue is the nano tech inside your comrades communicating with your (the players) nano tech (play MGS4 for more detail on nano tech coms).

The colour (blue/red) is a 3d display of team mates that you can see anywhere in the map (and on your map screen) BUT you have to link up (press triangle near your team mates) in order to do this.

If you get held up, you stand around with your hands up (like in MGS4, again: play it) and you cant just turn around and shoot them. They have to be very close to you in order to hold them up, so you should have seen them by then... unless they have stealth camo on.

Cheers for clearing alot of that up . Is online complicated then, is it any good or does it try to do almost too much? Also what good does holding a guy up do? And i saw a guy get knocked out on that video, why wouldnt you just kill the enemy? Instead of knocking them out and letting one of his team mates come and help him back up?

Its a more complicated game, than say COD4. Its a tactical shooter, rather than a 'run and gun' FPS.

Too much, its a matter of opinion.

Holding someone up, this buys time. If the enemy dies, they respawn 5 seconds later. If you knock them out (easy to do with a hold up), they can be laying knocked out for 5 mins (unless someone on their team wakes them up faster), the other team are one player down, making them easier to take out... you get more points for KOs (so alot of people KO then kill). If you play the game mode as snake, his objective is to get 'dog tags' and to do that, you must KO them.

There are different game rules that affect the above, see my first post or the MGO site for more info on the different game rules... although I have not updated the first post to all the MGO 1.20 changes.

Not played as much recently, I've only got one expansion pack (from 2)...

I think its one of the best games for the PS3, a better tactical shooter than Socom IMHO.

Re: Metal Gear Online

I've updated some of the first post to include the extra stuff included in the latest update (1.33).

Started playing again, despite being terrible and back down to level 1 it was lots o fun the other night. Incidently if you have the latest pack, as of the thursday update you get a new level, (iceland inferno) aka: shadow moses, complete with a snowstorm to fight in...

If you not played since the connection problems and Konami sign-ups issues on release, they were cleaned up a long time ago.... but its pretty hard now, not many beginner levels around. I'll be in combat training!
