I'm a bit confused on what memory to get for my new system - an AMD Phenom II x4 965.
Ideally looking for 8GB of dual channel RAM to go with this processor as i do a lot of video editing work, however there doesn't seem to be much in the way of DDR3 8GB kits on the market. The ones i have seen seem pretty overpriced...
Would a "triple channel" (i7) kit work just the same as normal?
The main problem is that the AM3 boards seem to only have 4 RAM module slots.
I've seen 12GB (6x2GB triple ch kit) of OCZ gold advertised for a very good price, can i run this in my future build with just 4 sticks (8GB) in a dual channel configuration?
Oh and this is the motherboard i intend on purchasing: MSI 790FX-GD70
MSI Global – Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more
Many thanks
Chris
