Well,
My age old thread from 2 years ago just had to go. My AV setup's changed quite a bit from the one listed (but sadly the wallpaper and the bed are still there - one of the downsides of living with parents while saving hard for a place of my own).
I use this setup as my AV setup linked with a PC I built recently. This will form the lounge AV system when I move out. The bedroom one is also sorted out, with some of the bits before my recent upgrades.
Kit List:
Samsung LE40A856S1 40" LCD
Arcam AVR280 receiver
Monitor Audio RS6's & RS1's
Soundstyle WG3AV rack
Self-built PC with Core2 Duo 3Ghz, 4Gb Corsair Dominator memory, XFX GTX260 graphics card, 2x 250Gb Samsung Spinpoint SATA drives under RAID 0
Xbox 360 currently not plugged in, as well as Monitor Audio RS LCR (no room for the centre in current room).
2nd system consists of:
Samsung 32" LE32R73BDX LCD
Arcam AVR250
Arcam DV89
Kef IQ1
HP Compaq DC7100 PC, upgraded spec.
.....This system will be the bedroom system for when I get my flat.
...And yes, the wallpaper's shocking , just want to strip the room down and paint it, but will have to approach this very carefully lol.
Anyway, hope you like
Dan. |

Cheers Fido. For some reason the wood came out orange-looking probably as photo taken with artificial light. Will probably update it this week with a better one. |

In the current 3m x 3m room, the speakers are fairly close together so the need for centre speaker not quite so important. It will be present on top of the rack when LCD mounted to wall when I get a flat though |

Really cool set up you've got there mate.
Love how all the wood matches.
Don't think I'd get much sleep in there.

Very fast response too so fast-moving images don't blur etc.
Running at 1600 x 900 which seems best resolution for me. 1920x1080 makes things look too small to be useable in Windows.
Think I'll be buying a calibration DVD in the coming week or so as want to get it set up properly as think my settings are out.
The touch-sensitive buttons on the front aren't a great idea for a dimmed room. Difficult to locate where to press, but it's only a very minor niggle.

Very Nice. I would put the TV on a raiser, appears a little low for bed position and consider putting the XBOX under the raiser or the centre speaker (although as you state the centre is prob. not required). As you state though, depends on the stability of the TV on a raiser.
Just a thought, I like the colour match on the stand to speakers . Nice set up.

Cheers The Snake, had considered getting something to raise the TV so I could place Centre underneath, but didn't get anywhere. I most often sit on the edge of the bed so Centre speaker can be a bit in the way as found. Damn the poor range on the RF version of this keyboard combo though (often unreliable when laying back in bed), the Bluetooth one is so much better range.
Not sure why the picture came out showing the wood to have an orange shade to it, probably the artificial light to be honest though. Everything's in Light Oak. I have RS1's at the other end of the room as my surrounds.
It's all a temporary at the moment til I buy a flat next year, that'll be the proper setup, but this'll do for now |
