Re: Potatoe Farmers First Setup

Whereas I personally like the overhead unit idea, I can see where others would disagree.

I think it's also to do with the fact that you've come up with a very good, if somewhat different way of utilising the space in your room.

I'm almost waiting for a PJ screen to pop out the bottom of that unit to cover the TV

Very nice work, thanks for sharing

Re: Potatoe Farmers First Setup

Great set up there farmer. I like the way you've really managed to maintain a cosy living room feel, whilst keeping it modern and getting all your AV kit to look like it's meant to be there. It looks like the sort of room you could really relax in, whether or not the TV is on. That's the effect I'm trying to create with my new modest set up.

When you don't have the luxury of a dedicated home cinema room then finding a compromise that everyone can live with can be difficult. But it looks like you've achieved it perfectly here. Loving the black gloss, and I personally think that green is a very brave colour, and I imagine it works quite well, as it's a very calming colour (we've got something similar in our bathroom).

I really like the overhead unit, makes the TV less dominating on that wall and frames it nicely. The only thing that would bug me is running out of storage space!..

I also love the kitchen, looks really similar to the one we installed when we moved in and it's the first thing people comment on when they come into the house. Hope you get it finished soon!

That's a cracking gaf there mate - and I've always liked those IKEA BESTA BURS cabinets, including the overhead one you use. Looks great.

p.s the kitchen looks wicked - I'm sure I've seen that tap before but can't remember where from ?

Re: Potatoe Farmers First Setup

As everyone has said, nice setup and love the piano black cabinet.

The storage above the TV would have been an ideal place for a soundbar?

Like it m8.

Re: Potatoe Farmers First Setup

OH MY GOD! THE FORCE SAID I HAD A CRACKING HOUSE!!!
now i'm happy!!!

It is actually a big tv, it looks farely small in the pics, i think because the frame/bevel around the telly is so thin. the effect this has is that u cant appreciate how bloody big the unit is, its actually pretty damn big!

i have the following kit sqeezed in:

SONY HTSF1300 5:1 TOSHIBA 46ZF355 LCD.

SONY DVP NS708H DVD UPSCALER REGION FREE HACKED

SKY+HD

SONY PS3 80GB

360 CORE

Wii

and the two big pull out draws are stuffed with DVD games etc, in the left one i have magazzines and even the yellow pages.

i leave the draw fronts all closed, i therfore have a magic eye set up so my controller still works, i love this and it makes the whole set up look like i know what im doing!!! it my fave part of my set up tho, it the one thing friends go "****ing hell" about!

i only got SKY HD yest and i have still not worked out how to programmes sky controller to control 1300. thats my next task.

Cheers Guys! still cant believe THE FORCE was impressed!!!

The singular spelling variants "potato" vs. "potatoe" co-existed into the 19th century. In the 20th century "potato" came to be considered the correct singular, and "potatoe" considered a misspelling. The plural remains "potatoes'".

Vice President of the United States Dan Quayle became notoriously associated with this misspelling in a June 15, 1992 incident. Quayle went to a photo op at Munoz Rivera School in Trenton, New Jersey, where he was to officiate a spelling bee by drawing flash cards and asking students to write the words on the blackboard. Twelve-year-old William Figueroa wrote potato, but Quayle prompted him to append an "e" which, according to Quayle's 1995 autobiography Standing Firm, was the spelling on the flash card. The incident made national news in the United States and became a source of entertainment for the tabloid newspapers in the United Kingdom.

So a name change might be a good idea.
