Chuffed isn't the word

I feel like I'm sat in someone else's house

I'm a bit miffed the HD-DVD player doesn't fit but there wasn't much room to play with and it is a hefty piece of kit

Never mind, lucky its a dead format!

Alot of effort and definately worth the end result Gilford. It looks lush, and bang up to date. It's a different room !

It's made me realise how much I need to get rid of our awful coving too

Top stuff mate.

re: Welcome to gilford's House Renovation.........

I hate coving, it was in every room when we moved in

I have just removed it as and when we do the rooms. Only thing is you have to replaster every ceiling after taking it out (well, in my house anyway) so it works out expensive.

The house is pretty much finished now, although I would like to change the doors for oak one's if I was a bit flush, but then again it would be well over £2k for doors and thats a lot of cash for something that you close! lol

No blinds in the conservatory mate, if I put them up they would be drawn all the time and ruin the point of a conservatory (which I use from drying my clothes most of the time now the weather is nice )

The furniture was bought last September from a local place going bust, I may be selling it soon, watch this space...............

That's one of the best installs I've seen on this site.

Also, just out of interest, what is the kitchen like? Given your apparent eye for design and the fact you said it's already done, I guess it's pretty good?

Wow I really like it. Great choices of colours and furniture, and the kit's not too shabby either.

Definately someone giving THE_FORCE a run for his money in the interior design stakes

re: Welcome to gilford's House Renovation.........

Love what you have done...

Bit of an intrusive/personal question but did it cost much with all the building work? Just wondering as I thought most people on here did it themselves. I was a bit confused as I could never even attempt anything as major as that, even drilling a hole in the wall scares me.

So did it cost much for the plastering, the custom made units, the guy who did the bathroom?

Feel free to tell me where to go, but I'm curious about it myself.

re: Welcome to gilford's House Renovation.........

I don't mind you asking bud

When we bought the house we had a £10k budget, and to be totally honest we over spent by about £3k

You have got to remember though that a hell of a lot of work has gone into this house now and I have hardly done anything myself ( I am exactly the same as you when it comes to DIY) and I have also done other work which I have not documented on here like hallway, bedrooms etc ( because who is interested in our bedroom ), .

These things can be as cheap and as expensive as you make them

Thanks for the info. Useful to know that. At least if you get a pro you know it's going to be good/acceptable and that nothing is going to go horribly wrong.

Awesome room, setup looks lovely. And the decorator did a damn fine job too

Only thing I would change is the BOSE sytem. Just seen the RRP for it . Sell it on ebay and upgrade should be next

The Bose Lifestyle 28 is a superb system, and I really dont know why people give them such a hard time

I have had various systems over the years and found Bose to be THE VERY BEST

My music taste is mostly dance music, and bang for buck the Bose kicks ass at this, the bass from the sub is superb

My worst nightmare is having large amps and speakers cluttering the room up which will only do the same job as my 2" cubes but look flippin' fugly

People are allowed to their opinions but I am yet to have someone come round to my house and not be impressed with the system, but then again if I did go down the seprates route, I suppose for the price I could get some half decent kit The Kef stuff always interested me, but again I could not be bothered with all the separate equipment

Before slating Bose you should really have a listen for yourself in a home environment, it really does sound good, I have got Bose systems in the dining room and bedroom as well

Hi Guilford.

Just want to mention how fantastic I think you house looks, but that lounge is just stunning. I'd never have thought it would have looked anything near as impressive as it does. Those two units you have got, just finishes it off perfectly.

Well done.
