That looks great - also the company is not far from me so could be interesting. We had the conservatory put on a few years ago and now wish we had got a proper extension, with the hot/cold problems you have with them. It's a polycarbonate roof, no plumbed radiator (was told oil radiator would be enough..it's not and it all disappears up through the ceiling in no time anyways). Was not using the conservatory much until the little chap appeared and whilst it's been warmer, it's now his adapted 'toy/play room' hence thinking this roof might make the room more used in the Winter months (will get a rad plumbed in as well).

Presumably with all this rain you've not heard the usual conservatory roof sound effects now?

You are in the exact same position we were mate!

I cannot recommend it enough, we are sat in here now watching tv and it's pouring down outside, I can't hear a thing. A month ago we would have to go inside because of the noise of the roof

I've had Sky HD plumbed in here and bought a new TV, this I going to be our family room now, keep the lounge for movies

Well got a quote on the Roof system for our conservatory- Crikey it's not cheap is it!! In sure it will improve matters but at 2/3 of the cost of the conservatory it seems too much to me- you have any joy in knocking them down or is it set in stone?

That would depend on how much you value a usable room mate

We hardly ever used it during July in previous years because -

A - Far too hot
B - Far too bright
C - Noisy in the rain
D - Cold in the morning

I could go on...........

Now, we sit in there ALL THE TIME, I've moved a lot of the AV stuff in there due to us using it so much! Previously, around 10pm the temperature would drop dramatically so it was not really nice to sit in there watching TV etc but now it is just like any other room in the house. In the morning we have breakfast in there and during the day the temperature (even if it is 30C outside) is still fine.

Our conservatory is south facing so temperatures in excess of 45C were quite common even on just a normal summers day with the patio doors closed. It got so hot last year a huge pillar candle my wife bought for the corner turned in to a pool of wax on the floor

I know I'm sounding like a salesman for them but it really is THAT GOOD

If you want any pictures etc just let me know, happy to help, and if you want to pop round for a look before you buy I'm sure we can oblige

Just sent you a pm, I think after regretting the conservatory 5 years ago and falling for the salesman bull ...you don't need a radiator, polycarbonate roof will be fine etc etc, I'm naturally pessimistic about these things! Probably not a relevant question at the moment, but how do you heat the conservatory, a rad connected to your main system or something else? Seen a few recommendations for air/heat pump as a cost effective solution.

We have got a rad in there connected to the main system but we always had it turned off because it never really did anything when we had the polycarb roof. I have tested it now and it heats the room just as a rad would do in a lounge

We also have a little Delonghi convector heater in there (not used it since the new roof has been fitted) which we used to top the heat up at dusk when all the heat disappeared with the old roof. I'm actually looking forwrd to the Winter months to see how it fairs with the new roof!

Our conservatory was there when we bought the house, it was a grey area when we were having the mortgage done because of its size, the way it was wired and the fact it had a rad plumbed in. In the end we bought an indemnity insurance on it which the solicitors advised just in case, but it has been there since 2000 so! I spoke to a few people who had this roof system fitted before finally going ahead and a lot who had it done last year have removed the door in to the conservatory all together (again, not advised due to building regs) because the heat retention is THAT good

I think it's the way forward with conservatories, all friends and family who have been round since it was fitted have been amazed and have said when their roof fails it is what they will replace with. My parents are thinking of having a conservatory done from scratch with this system also

What type of conservatory have you got? If it's like mine with a box gutter you could have the projector coming down from that as they have to replace and re box in anyway! I was kicking myself for not doing the same thing!

He has done a particularly good job where the speaker wire exits the wall, which I was worried about a little

All the lounge walls need to be painted yet, we have gone for a plum/purple feature wall and the rest to be soft stone, the idea stole from the Dulux catalogue, credit to my very cunning wife

I just wish that the fitted units were coming next week along with the carpet and the wood flooring for the conservatory but we have to wait until mid May for it

Everywhere will be done lovely but we will have to just stare at those unfinished alcoves for another month

Anyway, what do you think -

Yes, electric fire, more for show than anything else

It's a Dimplex Obsidian IIRC, can't remember how much though!

Has a good heat output if needed, looks amazing and is remote control
