Re: simon's living room setup

The reciver was a great improvement over my old Marantz 5200. With MCACC , set up was a doddle but still required a few tweaks afterwards.
On the picture the tow-in of the right speaker looks more extreme than in reality.

Re: simon's living room setup

I've stuck a granite slab(kitchen surface top saver from Tesco!) under the subwoofer now, it does seem to tighten the bass a bit more though!

Re: simon's living room setup

Fantastic effort, lovely clean set up and beautiful amp.

I have that TV which is very good with HD sources, just a small tip.....................if you are running various items through the receiver as a switch facility, make sure you turn the TV off by the switch underneath the TV as just turning it off at the plug whilst it is still running, has caused some connection problems when I have switched it back on.

It was trying to accept the source but i had to power down the TV again for it to work.

Its not much of a big deal but I thought I would let you know as you could spend hours thinking its your HD player, Receiver or cables.

Super Job and enjoooooooooooooooooooy

Thanks for the tip, it did happen to me before, I got no display, just a blank screen from the bluray and the dvd recorder which made me think it was the amp.

Re: simon's living room setup

Eomer - Just took the plunge and bought that amp as well and came across this thread with a search, looks like a I came across the right thread for exactly what I need to know.

I'm probably going to sound as thick as ******* here but here goes. I have a Plasma, Blu Ray Player, The Amp and a Wii. How do I connect these all together. I want minimal cabling. The idea was to connect everything into the Amp and then just connect the amp to the Plasma as I don't want loads of cables running from the cabinet to the Plasma. Do I still need to connect the Video of the Wii and the Blue Ray to the Plasma unit or will the Amp handle it all?

Re: simon's living room setup

great choice darkforces! hope you like the amp aswell

for Wii i think you could connect it to video/game 1 in from the back of the amp. the rest is just hdmi to amp and you can select what ever input you want from the remote.

OK but do I also need to connect the wii to the TV as well as the amp or just the amp?

should be just the amp with one HDMI cable out to the TV, not used analogue switching before so don't know how it looks.

another pic of the rears, now 7.1!

Re: simon's living room setup

Seems like a stupid question, on your LX 60 there is a MCACC and standing wave light to the right of the main display, on the LX 50 they glow orange but on my LX60 they don't. Looking at the pictures you've posted neither does yours have they ever lit up or are we both simply not switching on the features.

Seems daft its its bugging me.

Yes you're right, I've not seen these lights ever come on or I have not noticed them before.

At the moment, I'm upgrading my front speaker cables with QED XT400 and made myself some jumpers! A lot cheaper than QED's ones!

Hmmm... as mentioned maybe once or twice... nice AMP. Fancy swapping it for a Grandad AX10 ??

The rest of the setup is cool too. I think we all have 'shiny black gear' envy
