My system, nearly done :D

well after 3 years my home cinema is nearly done, just my cabinet to finish (put the doors and shelves in, yes i made it meself, so no mockery) and the odd cable to find a home for.

On to the pictures:

These are my sofas, mmmm comfy :D

My Dvds, you can also see the projector.

screen up.

screen down, you can also see the old sub to the right, the big black box, peaking round the end of the sofa.

The new sub, a bk monolith passive.

and for size comparison with my 18 month old son, tho hes quite tall apperently

the stuffs, On the left we have:

Denon AVC1-SE
Denon 3900
3 Beheringer euro power 1500s, 4500 watts :D :D

On the right:
Behringer Feedback destroyer
Motorised dish box and xbox HD DVD
Xbox 360
PS3
Sky plus 160
Pioneer Laserdisc player

And on the top sits my lp player, a bix with a rega rb300 arm modified by origami audio

Speakers are the orginal b&w thx system.
Projector is an h79

Im well :D:D:D:D:D first time its ever looks tidy!!

edd

Big edit, the cabinet photo has been updated and some photos of them monolith. See the 2nd page for some screen shots!

Nice looking setup, very professional. Might you wish to add some shelves to your unit to prevent strain and overheating on the components though?

Its standard 19" racking, its just a matter of ordering or making the shelves, just not got round to it, the main power amps are designed to be stacked and have front to back air flow, not even any vents on the top. The denon has plenty of room too, so its ok for now.

They are stero power amps, of which i have 3.

into 2 ohms they produce 750 watts a channel (well, supposedly) so that gives a total of 4500 watts .

Since the front speakers are 4 ohm, and the rears 8 ohm, its more like 380 watts for each front and cente, and 240 for each rear, still bonkers amounts of power.

No, something i have though of doing, but i imagine to be a mamoth task!

as a guess, i have 500 or so dvds.

Sub is big, but not so good. getting long in the tooth. but it works so ill keep it, the set actually came with 2 subs, the other one "popped". luckily, i have no neighbours :D

Thanks for the interest all.

Edd,

I downloaded DVD profiler from this link http://www.intervocative.com/Downloads.aspx to catalogue my collection. All you need to do is input the bar code data and it downloads the DVD data automatically. I suppose other programmes work the same way. For the sake of 5 nights work (100 per night @ 1 hr) it would be worth it.

Great setup by the way.

Re: My system, nearly done :D

Are the fans on the EP1500s ok? I mean are they too loud? Did you change them? And how would you rate them (the amps not the fans!) - what would you compare them to?

Re: My system, nearly done :D

the fans were like a small jet aircraft taking off. i swaped them for papst silent fans, cant realy hear them over the projector now.

for the money i think pro amps are great, they are very heavy mind (15kg each) and 19" wide. Much better sound quallity than i had imagined, and so much power in reserve its just not an issue. if you have the room, dont mind swapping the fan, give one a try, £170 i payed for each amp, if you dont like it, sell it on ebay

Re: My system, nearly done :D

the subwoofer was the b&w one from the thx system. It was ok, went loud but thats about it, a very bloated over warm sound.

So now i have a monolith, still passive, bk made one for me, i havnt updated the pictures due to illness, ill get round to it soon.

Re: My system, nearly done :D

I'll eventually give pro-amps a try, they're too tempting to just ignore - I actually live right next to a pro-audio shop. They have Behringer, Mackie, Lexicon (!!) and other brands available (I think Crown too).

All the best for the illness you mentioned.

Re: My system, nearly done :D

ahh nothing too bad, bad back, throw in an inner ear infection (paiin fulll) and a 17 month old baby, tasks like taking a photo of the subwoofer go out thw window.

I always intened the behringers as a stop gap to getting some rather serious crowns or something similar, but ive been so happy with the sound i doubt ill bother.

If you like the movie, the hd-dvd is fantastic, transfer is amazing, puts a lot of modern movies to shame.
