It's a lovely performer - never had a bad disc out of it

Not being used atm though so if you want it, make me an offer.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't need it - thanks for the offer though; I've just bagged its upgrade, the DMR-E65 on eBay for 38 quid inc . p+p.

Re: Craig's theater.

Well well well.

After the last photos where the setup reached it's peak, a few things happened...

I mentioned in passing that Ihad to change jobs due to the NHS account going up north (used to work for Fujitsu) - which lead me to the FSA account in Canary Wharf. unfortunately this did not work out too well after my boss persistantly messing up my expenses (travel was 350 quid a month) which meant I could buy no one any Christmas pressies and I had to get a loan out just after Christmas to pay bills, etc.

After realising my working life was absolutely abysmal, the laptop died, so had to use the HTPC shown in a later photo. Working life then took a REAL tumble and I skived for 2 weeks - in that time I was travelling to London (so as my parents did not find out ) having McDs for breakfast, coming home and having a fry up, then having tea with my parents, then getting absolutely tanked with my friends.

With money going quickly I had to sell a few prized posessions in my HT setup (to fund the drinking - am amazed i didn't reach alcoholism), also including my EOS 350D... I applied for a job at Sony Centre, got an interview so I text my boss the day before saying I wouldn't be coming in the next day. When I returned to work, we had a big argument which lead to me writing my letter of resignation with immediate effect and walked out 5 minutes later.

Luckily, I did get the Sony Centre job, but I still had to go 2 months without pay and it's still crippling me

I still have the TV, amp, turntable, speakers and DVD-R left.

Aside from that, I passed my driving test the same week I got the sony job, had a fling with a very hot girl who is now my best bum chum ever, and i'm back to my normal chirpie self, which my friends are appreicating a lot !

The hifi was being seriously neglected, so last week I dismantled EVERYTHING in my room, cleaned it, rearranged it and set everything up again. The speakers are now optimally placed and it sounds like i've changed amplification! The turntable is in regular use after about 6 months of gathering dust and the room looks much neater in comparison.

Will be re-ordering the same projector off ebay shortly and getting a dedicated CD player too.

Pics to follow

Re: Craig's theater.

Ok, diet version of my setup (minus projector, GOOD dvd player, PS3.)

Gear now lined up along the back wall of the room, speakers are now as far away as possible but not confined to a corner or half way down the wall as they used to be!

Equipment rack - BETAMAX FOR THE WIN! Actually inherited this off my Uncle Robin - his Uncle Brian sadly passed away last summer after complications with Aneurisms A fellow Sony finatic like myself, R.I.P. Also shows the PC donated to me by my younger brother Ross, who said I needed it more than him Will get a blu-ray drive for this in a couple months time.

Back of room, showing some Sony cubes on Alphason stands which were also inherited off Brian, the rest of the setup is in my brother's room, may post some photos of his setup on here over the weekend actually.

Yes the bin needs emptying From the door.

Sounds like your life's been a bit topsy turvy recently Craig! My travelcard's also around £350 a month, which I have to pay for out of my own pocket, no expenses for me! Not fun is it......

Re: Craig's theater.

Nope.

I have never owed anyone money before in my life, and now i've got to pay out 100 quid each month for about 14 months because of the loan Sucks so bad. Taken a bit of a pay cut by getting the Sony job, but my god is it worth it - I get to play with all the hifi, go to the Sony shows where new stuff is shown off and the people I work with are great - never had such a good time in my life since college

Re: Craig's theater.

You need to flip that PC to lie the other way round, that way the motherboard is on the bottom, heat will rise and it should run quieter.

At the moment the way you got it lying is going to be a bit of an issue for the noise/performance...

Looks good otherwise..

Yup already done that, the motherboard is mounted on the wrong side on that pc for some reason, there's a huge vent there too

Re: Craig's theater.

First Sony Betamax I've seen in this gallery, nice one.

I had the very same one, well two actually, it was a top VCR only lacking true hi-fi sound, still it did have Beta Noise Reduction LOL.

Yours still looks in fab condition, even has the original stickers!

Yup - inherited it off my uncle's uncle who passed away last year, he was a Sony freak, much like myself and you by the look of things!

Do like using it though

Re: Craig's theater.

RIGHT FELLAS.

Bit of a strange turn, my car was crashed into, then it happened again and I had to replace my alloys, then the head gasket needed to be replaced. WOOPS!

So the PS3 is now gone to help fun that, but a friend who is seriously into high end hifi gave me some Kimber cabling which has really opened up the hifi something scarey!

I've got a couple tricks to show when I get back off my holiday too. No pics yet, but just felt I should keep my greatest fans informed!

Hello mate,

Nice to see that 3 years down the line this thread is still going and evolving. Hmmm now what "tricks" could you mean, I'm intrigued

Re: Craig's theater.

Cheers for that mate - guess it does prove the point no matter what point/age you start at, the home theatre system is a never ending cycle of upgrading and trying to get the best.

Just a couple of bits to do with audio as that is now my primary interest. Video did take over for a while when I had the projector setup with the PS3, but I get more pleasure from music.

A few probably won't approve, but hey ho

Hello Sunny Forgot you was a member on here.

Certainly has - you should pop round one evening and have a listen - not as impressive as when I had the projector and everything else but it's still pretty good.

Re: Craig's theater.

I have to say that I have a look at your thread regularly as I'd like to achieve something similar to what you have, and must say you are a real inspiration because you've achieved so much setup wise so young.

I've noticed you've added a NAD amp and tuner to ya signature, can we expect any pictures?

Re: Craig's theater.

That is quite a compliment and the first time i've been given a real smile by a fellow member - the past 12 months has been a real roller coaster for me and that's pretty much made it worthwhile - of course the pleasure I get from using it is good too.

Ok, swapped my LCD for the hp PC again, purely so I can do photo editing when i'm out shooting with the SLR that I have to borrow from dad, still, till I get my own one again!

Purchased a little 10" Sony Vaio laptop for travelling and so on. Got a Sony photo printer too just so I can get some of my photography work on show for once!!

Got a NAD 3020e AMP and 4020b tuner too. The tuner is going to be traded for a digital (still FM!) one soon which matches the amplifier. Music performance is actually stunning, the next step is to get a new receiver with front channel pre outputs so I can use the new Russ Andrews Kimber 8TC cabling i've also got too. So got some real legendary equipment now. Traded my Yamaha DSP-A592 pro logic amp that I had some years ago with my hifi friend that I mentioned earlier for this combo.

The Sony recevier has the Kimber cable at the moment, got the NAD hooked up with my old Van Damme 2.5mm stuff at the moment. The DM601S3s are bi-wireable, so got both amps plugged in at the same time, but they are never run at the same time!

As you asked so nicely, I will get some photos up here this evening for you

Re: Craig's theater.

PC setup on the floor !

Printer and external HDD setup on top of the PC

Sony PCG-TR2MP Vaio laptop

AV Rack

NAD 3020E Amplifier & NAD 4020B tuner.

Certificate to certifiy the cable is worth the £280...!! Luckily I got it for free.

Currently saving for a new projector and going to get blu-ray sorted somehow. Either another PS3 or maybe a drive for the PC.

Re: Craig's theater.

Looking good

What are you using as a display then at the moment? Also, I like the look of that DVD player, is it another A10 that you mentioned earlier in this thread?

The hifi hear looks nice as well, I always appreciate the quality of decent hifi equipment. Cheaper stuff just sounds too harsh IMO.

Check out my setup if you want
