Cheers Rick,
We're real pleased. It's great as the cube is so many different colours we can pretty much have whatever we want in there and chances are it'll match one section of it
The wall lights are just decking lights with frosted glass spotlights as covers to help disperse the light a bit more. We just chased the cables behind the plasterboard (benefits to a modern house eh?) we wanted to try and create a subtle feature out of an area that normally just gets forgotten.

I know! Was great to have a dedicated room last time round but this house is nicer. Compromise.....oh, and I've still got a dj room so........

Again, we wanted a subtle as possible and building a shelf within the wall not only hides the speakers but means whoever has it after us can just put a similar set up in, or worst case scenario just use it as a shelf for books or whatever. Rear speakers seemed better in the ceiling as we were trying to save as much floor space as possible. It's a small but open plan room so it was just a case of making looks as bright and open as possible.

That's a good idea with the frosting, I have just put lights in the kitchen in the plinths have added a pic for anyone interested, and they are deck lights. Yeah it does have benefits
Yeah it does look mega, think I am going to put on landing, hall and up the stairs when we get to that stage.

Cheers, really happy with them, when the cat walks through the kitchen at night her shadow makes her look like a panther

Yeah defo will, looking forward to doing hall, landing stairs, with the lighting it will look mega. Just doing bedrooms atm, done daughters and the spare room, kitchen and moving on to our bedroom in the next month or so, will put all pics together and get some up, just not enough hours in the day. They aren't anything exciting AV wise, there will be a bit in our room, ceiling speakers, new tv etc.

I think it is 84" I tried to get the closest match to the ceiling width before the slant starts. If I remember right, it was about 210cm width which made the screen about 84" diagonal. Hope that helps!

We've got standard softness (that'll make sense when you go online) and its dot on (I'm not a big fan of proper squishy sofas). Real good prices too - just be prepared to receive a pallet an build the thing yourself!
Hi Ross

Lovely room, what fabric did you choose for the sofa?

I cant remember I'm honest. Or a least I can't remember what it was called. It was a black cord material I we wanted something a bit more hard wearing. If i remember, it was pretty much the only black cord on there so should be pretty easy to locate from the sample sheet. Good luck!

Nice dj room! Nice everything, in fact.

On p1 you mentioned converting your vinyl to mp3 being too much of a hassle, I say do it, I converted mine and it gives many more options for tweaking the recordings. Something I always wanted to play out was Bug Powder Dust by Bomb the Bass & Justin Wharfield, but the pressing is awful, really quiet and distorted when amped up. Once on the pc I added a new stereo image, brightened key frequencies, compressed it, and it really stands out in my sets now. Of course, once on the pc it's an easy next step to edit the track too, I rarely play anything that hasn't seen some sort of original mix or mashup.

Yea, there would be a select few I would transfer if I really wanted to play them but I wouldn't transfer the whole collection as it would be such a chore! I'd rather just play them on vinyl. I transferred all my DVDs to hard drive earlier this year and that was enough!

Yeah, I did my films (from Betamax to dvd) and my 90s cassette collection... It took months. Then a year later I looked at the films and deleted a third of them. Like, when am I going to watch Wimbledon with Kirstin Dunst ever again... sigh!

Buddy! Hats off to you! Absolutely fantastic place! Is it an apartment, coach house, house or what?

I've just bought my first place a few months ago (a coach house), and i'm in the middle of deciding/saving for some bits and bobs to do, I've got my 2nd bedroom going to be my 'DJ room' too, I can't wait!

A few questions, are they active KRK's? Where did you get those 'hell house vinyl/pic' things from? (Love them!)

Also your hallway lighting, obviously you chased the cabling out in the walls, but how are they turned on? Did you connect them up to the existing overhead lighting? Also where are the pics of the kitchen for completion!

Top work fella :D

Lol! Cheers buddy. Fair play on the first purchase man! Yea, it's a coach house - above 3 garages so if yours is anything like ours you're gonna have a hoot!

KRK's - yes, active Rockit 5's plugged straight into the mixing desk. I got offered 8's but just couldn't fit them in (I think he's still selling if you want me to enquire).

HELLHOUSE VINYL - the display units are just standard vinyl display frames. My were a Xmas pressie but I think I saw them last in iwantoneofthose. The vinyls however are from my collection and took a fair few years to find. The red one was rare as hen's teeth (until they re-pressed it) but its yoji biomehanika's label if you want to start hunting. As far as visual sleeves go we normally leave those in or any of the overdose (scot project) 12" as they all have a theme. Have a look.

LIGHTS - yep, chased the cables and used a 3 pin plug which is just sat plugged in behind the fish tank out of sight.

KITCHEN - finished too but it didn't have any 'gadgets' which warranted me putting it on here. I can if you really want though.

Keep me posted with your progress though - more than happy to try and help or advise. I hadn't really had any DIY experience before starting this!

Mine is above 4 garages, with a little juliet balcony. Its my first place and purchase on my billy todd, and I'm pleased as punch. Especially seeing how well you've made yours look!

The KRK's look/sound like a great purchase, my mate has the 8's and I think I will treat myself to some 5's soon like you!

Ah, I thought the vinyl's were some kind of awesome pic I shall I end my enquiries

Oh thats quite a simple then having just plugged them into the mains, do you turn them on at the mains, or is there a switch?

I think my first question is, how deep is the cavity between plasterboard, and block on the main walls? I'm thinking about a few DIY bits including my 46" Sony LED on the wall for a start!

Kitchen pics are all good to show the rest of it ... Well for me!

Look forward mate

Another question if you dont mind, after I was sat thinking about this!

Where did you get your blinds from, and how did you fix them in? Screw to wall, plasterboard, window frame?

from internal to external I would say about 1" 1/2 - 2" give or take. Yours might be different though so don't use mine as gospel. If yours is like ours though. It's thermablock so your gonna need some pretty decent fixings as that stuff is soft as hell!

The blinds are just blackout blinds from Dunelm cut to the right size and fitted to the plasterboard around the windows. Easy peasy job that!

I'll sort some kitchen pics put then if you really want them!

Which reminds me - I've for to put some of the pj on for someone as well I think?!?

Will try it this weekend!
