tehsoul's new appartment

Hi all
Well, I finally moved out of the parents' house and started settling in to my new place.

First of all, here's what it looked like when I got the place:

i really hated the colors and flooring

so i knew i had some work to do

a lot of blood, sweat and tears later, here's how it turned out:

Mind you, it's not finished yet . Still have to install some lighting (bulbs atm) and decorate some more, especially the walls look as they look kinda dull right now.
Will make some pictures in the daylight later, as that'll probably look better.

Here we go:

Ahhh...

Kit list:
Samsung LE52B750
Onkyo HTX-22HD + SKS-11 speaker package
Asrock ION 330 (HTPC running xbmc)
PS3
Wii

Would love to know what you all think
(decorating) tips always welcome!

Re: tehsoul's new appartment

mmmm, where shall i start????, i know, i'll start here. That's fantastic transformation. Top top job. love the look of the new lounge, great kit, well laid out, good stuff. I'm surrently in the process of re-vamping the living room, although it's a very slow process, long working hours, kids and a wife that would still be preferring to watch black and white tv. lol.

my only wish is that once i have finished, if mine looks 50% as good as yours then i'll be giving myself a pat on the back. you should give yourself one. top stuff my friend.

Re: tehsoul's new appartment

Hi,

Great setup (and transformation!).

Can I ask where you got the AV unit from? I've been looking for something just like that!

Thanks,

Neil

Re: tehsoul's new appartment

Looks fantastic, it goes from looking cold and bare to warm and cosy. Kit all looks pretty descent as well, i don't think there is much to improve, so just well done

i looked all over for this unit. wanted something really wide and almost everywhere i went, 160 or 180cm is the widest i could find (200cm if i was very lucky). saw this one and immediately fell in love (it's 250cm)
it's from a local teak shop over here in antwerp (belgium): http://www.topteak.be

Re: tehsoul's new appartment

A truly stunning apartment! You've done a fantastic job of transforming it and I'm really jealous of your sofa. I wanted a similar one but it was just too big to fit in my living room

And get your feet off the table

Where did you get your mounts, and what make/model are they? I have the same SKS11 package but have found it a nightmare to get nice mounts for the rears.

it's these ones for both front and back: 2 Pack of Black Universal Speaker Wall Mount brackets: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
i cheated though; i mounted them upside down (the brackets, not the speakers), as i found that to look much nicer

Re: tehsoul's new appartment

You're one lucky lad, that is a great first place from what I can see!

A great transformation, very tidy and excellent cable management, it makes the speakers look very discreet indeed.

Good work mate...looks like you don't need any DIY tips
