Upgrade time

Cinema has been up and running for a couple of years and it's now time for an upgrade as the old 5.1 system is going down to the lounge so we can be a two cinema family (and because it gets a bit cold in the loft conversion in the winter; note the sleeping bags!!!).

Very pleased with the suede effect paint, which was a tip from the forum a couple of years ago; be warned though it did look like a dirty protest after the first coat.

All this means that it's time to upgrade!!!

Have somewhere between 1.5 and 2k burning a hole in my pocket and have no idea what I want; advice would be much appreciated.

The old Kef 1005's and the Sony STRK880 receiver are going downstairs, leaving a Sony RDR-HXD860 DVD recorder and my now ancient (though still very good I have to say, but will be upgraded at some future date) Epson projector in the loft. I need a new receiver and speakers to team with them. As you'll see from the photo there is plenty of room at the front for floor standers but rear speakers are going to have to be reasonably narrow or they will keep getting in the way. Is also scope for a 7.1 system, though I hadn't actually considered that until a friend suggested it the other day.

Don't really know ehere to start, except with the star rating reviews in the mags. However, would be very much interested in feedback on what's hot from those in the know.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts

John

My Triad Mini-LCR's with the M&K MX-7000 (in the sales section) would be a huge step up from your current speakers. Pair them with a Yamaha RX-V3900 (I've sold mine, but another member has one up for sale) and you'll have a superb £4k's worth of equipment for around £2k.
