my first 'proper' set up

well after living in university accommodation for 2 years iv finally got my own apartment and decided after viewing some great home cinema examples on here, to build my own home theatre and although its not 100% completed (rather 80%) i thought i would post some pics on here to see what everyone thinks

kit list:
Pioneer krl37v
sony ps3 160bg
xbox360
skyHD
sony STRDA2400es
ipod 120gb
macbook pro 15"

1020i up front
1000ci in the middle
1010i for the rears

still to come ....
sony tdmip50 ipod dock
bk gemini 2/ xls 200 (still to decide)
oh and a new sofa lol
pics dont quite do it justice as they are quite low res will post some good ones when it is all finished and im am happy with it

Re: my first 'proper' set up

That's really nice mate. I'm currently looking at that speaker system and receiver. If you don't mind could I ask you where you got the speaker stands from please? The silver ones at the front. They would be idea for me as I seem to be heading in a black and silver direction.

hey willw it is a pioneer krl 37" tv i got it about 5 months ago for about £700 quid and an i love it couldn't quite justify getting a pioneer plasma and 37" was about right for the size of the room and yes it is a brick wall as its a small apartment and on the other side is a porch lol the other windowns all have better views though lol

i got them with the speakers from richersounds in york they are soundstyle z2 speaker stands i don't think there are many of them about now though as they were clearance when i got them and i went back to get some for the rears last week and they didn't have any but ask your local richersounds and you might get lucky SOUNDSTYLE Z2-STAND at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

Re: my first 'proper' set up

Yeah, if you could post some pictures with the light on that would be great. I'm more interested in the fish tank now to be honest, think I'll get one! Cheers.

the fish tank is a great lil thing not massive (23l) but is v cool lol the black housing behind has the filter in it which is a 3 stage chemical filter miles better than you get in a biorb, maintenance is low and being able to look 'down' through the top of the tank adds another view that makes it unique! hope that help you and the pics here give some idea of the effect the light gives out

hey the stand is from allcam: FS205 Universal 32" to 60" Plasma LCD TV Floor Stand Bracket

its a cantilever stand and it does hold the tv, apparently it will hold up to a 60" its ideal for a 5.1 system as the shelf in the middle was made for a centre speaker theres a link on avf about this stand Black glass Cantilever 60" stand

hope that helps if you want any more info just ask

regards

Re: my first 'proper' set up

Stand looks familiar

Looks good, but the rears are a little low and pointing in a funny direction IMO

Ideally you want a little space between you and your rears and the best way to achieve this would be to mount the speakers high up on the wall behind the listening position if it's possible? If wall-mounting isn't possible then I'd actually angle them out towards the wall behind me to give more of a wrap-around effect.

Re: my first 'proper' set up

I had to do this with my rears as I didn't want to wall mount them coz I was still living at my parents' house!

If my web host wasn't so fickle you could click on my sig link and see how I have mine but they seem to be down - again

Saying that though, I think I might have taken the pics before I positioned the rear speakers properly anyway
