My setup

2nd October New updates post 87 page 3

I know its not much when i look around this forum, i'm in awe of some of the systems i see, but i'm happy with it
I hope you like it too. any comments welcome

1st Jan 2010 updated, the addition of the mordaunt short sub, Sony blu ray player, Xbox 360/HD dvd player and exchange of Onkyo 577 amp to an Onkyo 607.

I had to re organise the AV cabinet to incorporate the new amp as its much taller than the 577 was.
Overall i'm happy with how it's turned out and the Onkyo has a nice 50mm gap between it and the glass shelf for the blu ray player so it can breath easily ( the wooden shelf above the amp is a dummy its only 30mm deep but the boss said the big gap looked odd and suggested the dummy shelf and much as i hate to admit she was right it does look better and the air still flows freely )

How do you get on with the TV at that height? I tend to lie down to watch TV and your sofa looks like a low one, just wondering.

No problems with the tv height, we always sit on the sofa to watch and i've never found myself feel like i'm looking up at the tv.
I think the photo has distorted the image a bit because the room looks alot narrower than it is so that may make the tv look heigher.

The wall the TV is on used to be an archway between our dining room and lounge. When we did an extension the archway was blocked up so its a hollow stud wall which is ideal for feeding the cables through.
The cables for the ceiling speakers goes up the boxing in on the right hand side which has central heating pipes in then through the void between the ceiling and the upstairs floor.

Doesn't the gear get a bit hot, looks tightly packed in there?
Nice look though, looks like the room keeps you happy (av) and her, (the decorating)

No the gear doesnt get too hot, the unit is open backed and about 3" away from the wall and as i explained the middle shelf above the amp is a dummy so there is a good 2" above the amp
Thank you, the room keeps me happy and the wallpaper keeps the boss happy ( i had to let her choose something in MY room )
Strange though when we recently decorated the lounge i didnt get a say in anything. suppose i should grow some balls but i can always retreat to my room

Joe, the rears in the picture are the rear surrounds the rears are in the ceiling spaced well apart above the seating position

Hi, I thought i'd post some updated photo's.

Updates:
New mission M35i front speakers ( i bought these second hand and they were in beech effect so i vinyl wrapped them in white to match the other speakers).
New Mordaunt short Alumni 5 center speaker.
New Mordaunt short Alumni 2 front high speakers.
Finally got round to spraying the Xbox HD DVD black to match the Elite.

I'm just in the middle of repairing the cabinets on some Mordaunt short 914's which are going to be used as rear surrounds i'll post some pics when finished.

I know white's not to everyones taste but i hope you like them.

Well its time to decorate
I have recently made some purchases ( new Toshiba EP30 ) so the av cabinet is due another change to fit everything in.
Progress so far:
The center has been ripped out, new uprights made and routed for the glass shelves, hole cut out for new ps2 position in the cupboard, new doors ordered.
I need the boss to choose a new colour so i can paint the parts prior to assembly.

Cheers Craig,
We worked well into the night last night to crack on with it, once things are starting to go back into place it's toning down the walls a bit. hopefully i'll have finished pictures by the end of the weekend.
