My First Lounge AV Setup

Heres a few snaps of my new lounge setup. Pretty happy with the outcome. Comments welcome

Kit list so far:

Pioneer PDP-LX5090
Pioneer VSX-919AH
B&W MT-30 (5.1)
Sky+HD
QED Cables throughout

Middle cabinet door to be attached soon! Amp was deeper than I expected, plus more ventilation is needed.

Cheers

Neal.

Loving this one, those orbs really fit the style perfectly.
Though i would have the TV slightly lower myself.

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

Thanks for the comments chaps.

The TV does look a tad high, but when sitting down its actually a lot lower than it looks in the pics. Didn't want to fuss around too much with it as it's quite a heavy screen and slipping would have been game over.

The MT-30 package does a good enough job for me. Didn't really want big floorstanders and bookshelves would have spoilt the look. Very happy with the M1's and they sound great matched with the PV1.

Next is a BD player and a Harmony remote... after that know knows

Nice Neal,

Similar kit to me - Pio and MT30......

Can't wait to get my own place to get something professional sorted..... at the moment a bit of a mish-mish.....

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

Thanks again for the comments guy's, you're all very kind. My first setup and was quite pricey along with buying the house as well! But now its finished it was worth every penny.

Mistry - the cabinets are from the IKEA Besta range. They are 40cm deep , but the controls on my amp just protrude...

IKEA | Bookcases | BESTÃ…/FRAMSTÃ…/INREDA storage system | BESTÃ… | TV bench

Probably best as enclosing it in there isn't going to do it too much good. It does get a bit hot!

The idea was to have a cable free setup. The cabinets were my first choice as they hide the cables all the way to the floor, as opposed to a floating glass table style rack.

One thing I havent yet got is an RF remote and some receivers as unfortunately for me IR doesn't travel through wood!

Cheers

Neal.

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

Hi Neal....another quick question if you don't mind
Did you go for the plain doors or the gloss finish???

I like the look of the gloss doors but just don't think they match the units...

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

Cheers for the comments guy's.

I actually finally completed my setup this week (for now anyway) with the addition of a Sony S360 BD player.

First film played was iRobot. Looks and sounds awesome!

Mistry - The doors I got were the gloss black finish. I pondered over which to get, but thought the gloss would finish it off slightly better as the kit I have is gloss black too. They actually go with the units very well; as long as they match your room decor.

Cheers.

Neal.

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

Very nice, clean setup you have there...fairly similar to me although I have the MT-25 setup with a Samsung panel.

You may find something like this useful: Blue Eye - IR Extender / IR Repeater. Remote Control Extender / Repeater. It would allow you to hide you equipment away (as you have) but control it via a standard IR control - so no need for a specialist RF control. There are many other similar products available that you may find just as useful.

ahh, i thought you had gone for the wooden gloss finish, however the black sounds a good idea - i've also got a pio plasma and kef's in gloss black..

ohh, and with all my questions i forgot to say what a nice set-up you've got there mate, mine may well up looking similar to yours...
will post some pics once everythings done...

thanks again for all your help mate...

Re: My First Lounge AV Setup

No problem Mistry, glad I could be of some help and inspiration to you

For my first house and first AV setup i'm pretty pleased with the end result.

Next time I think I will attempt a false wall resessing the screen into the wall giving a flush appearance. All in good time
