How to extract just the audio stream from a DVD?

I have several music dvds and a couple of iPods, one can play video but the other cant. I can use Mac the Ripper and Handbrake to get the video into iTunes and on to the video capable iPod quite happily and all is fine. However if the video is sync'd with the non video iPod, just to listen to the music in the car, it stops and starts every couple of minutes. I was actually surprised it played at all. So my question is what can I use to extract just the audio stream from the dvd or have I just missed something in Handbrake?

Thanks

Paul

Re: How to extract just the audio stream from a DVD?

I was going to start a new thread but found this with a quick search.

Can anyone recommend a good, free application for ripping audio from DVDs ? A have some concerts that I'd like to listen to on my iPod.

Many thanks.

Not a free solution and as long as you don't mind doing it in real time then WireTap Studio is an excellent app for this. OTOH if there's only a section of audio you're interested in then it would be even easier.

Re: How to extract just the audio stream from a DVD?

Couldn't you use Handbrake? I don't have it on this computer to check, but I imagine it has an audio only option. If it doesn't, set the audio to high quality and the video to low quality (to make the rip quick), and then use another app to rip/export the only the audio from the video. I think QuickTime Pro is capable of doing that, but I'm sure they'll be a plethora of free apps that are capable.
