Cornish Yarg update - details released, lots of new features

The details for the Cornish Yarg update (the next update coming) have been released, and includes lots of new features:

Cornish Yarg!*|*TheSixthAxis

Quote:
Media Molecules cheese codenamed updates are here again. This time it’s with Cornish Yarg. The update for the PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet brings with it a host of changes:
- 5 new tutorials in “Create Pack 1”. These tutorials unlock some new creative tools to play about with:
- Infinite lives checkpoint.
- Visibility tweak option on certain joint objects (to hide these in Play mode).
- Global settings object (to trigger lighting changes).
- Tetherless jetpack.
- Angle range proximity switch (additional functionality on proximity and magnetic key switches).
- IME text chat support for Korean and Japanese.
- Some new profile managing tools and menus for better profile management when receiving community objects and photos.
- A music player which is available to use while in create mode.
- Advanced Sackboy customisation mode.
- Fixes to the level loading issues.

With the update in the final stages of testing, we should probably expect this sooner rather than later. I can’t wait to mess about with the global lighting settings and the visibility tweaks, and all whilst I listen to my own music. Sweet.
Can't wait for this, some of the stuff that's coming looks fantastic
However, I don't see any sign of online creation, which I thought was releasing in this update

Excellent - what's with the Music Player?

Is it purely like having custom soundtracks whilst in create mode or something more....

I guess it means you can listen to your own music while creating so you're not working away in silence.

That's what I assumed, which is great, but what I'd really love is the ability to use your own music in a level. I gues that's never going to happen with copywrite issues

"Fixes to the level loading issues".

Please tell me that's to do with the lag when joining a game

I think the lag fixing update is coming in a different patch, called Leerdammer.
I don't know how long it's gonna be till we get that though

1.11 is coming this Thursday apparently, but it's just an update to allow people to use the latest costumes. Then 1.12 will be Cornish Yarg, which will come soon after that.

I have a idea but I was wondering if it's possible. Can you build a map where you are starting from the very bottom and you have to climb your way up to the top of a volcano(from inside it) while it starts rumbling and lava spitting out/rising up.

Then when you get out of the top you jump out and suddenly the volcano erupts and you have to run down the hill to safe distance?

Yeah you could do that. It's not really hard to create levels, but you find yourself tweaking and tweaking so much that it takes ages. You always feel adding something else will make it better...

Give it a go one day mate, it's good fun (when it all works out!) and I liken it to playing with lego as a kid.

Should be easy to do except you can't have liquids in LBP so you'd have to do the lava as burning rocks with some emitters at the bottom to push them up and send some into the air. You'd then just have a trigger that sets off the erruption (more emitters) once the player reached a certain point.

Best way to learn is to just play around inside the level builder, it's really easy once you get the hang of it (and done all those pesky tutorials). The problem I have with building levels is I just spend all my time fiddling about, messing with stuff I've created, tweaking bolts, levers, etc. and never get to a point where I could actually publish a full level.

BOT : I'm looking forward to the next update. Will the unchained jetpack definitely be available this one?

Sounds good. I just wasn't sure if I could have a map going up and not along. I think as you run down there will be a small hole what is a mini bunker type place where you hide to get away from the lava otherwise it will just catch you up.

Another feature I would love is if they increased the amount of layers available to something like 5 or 6.
At the moment it's only 3

Could be a good opportunity for some Jet Pack usage too

Re: Cornish Yarg update - details released, lots of new features

According to Sam_Protagonist's latest post, Cornish Yarg is looking good to go in a week's time, on the 16th April:

LittleBigPlanet Content Updates For April - General Discussion - LittleBigWorkshop

However, some of the features we thought would be released in Cornish Yarg are actually being released a week later, in a "free creator's pack" available for download from the 23rd April. I don't know why they didn't just choose to include that stuff in the Cornish Yarg update

You can cut bits out of any object. For example, you can place a huge lump of wood and then carve it into the shape you want or you can glue smaller objects together if you prefer, it achieves the same thing.

I'm really liking the sound of the 'Creator Pack', I never got round to finishing a level but this may give me the impetus

Does anyone here actually ever shell out for costumes?

I've bought a couple of the 59p ones, the shark & gorilla. Also bought the MGS pack but that was levels and the paint gun as well as the soldier outfit.

I bought the Killzone costumes last week, £2.59 for 2 costumes and loads of stickers.

In general I don't bother but I have to admit (just did) that I've been tempted occasionally. 59p is a good price though, they should all be that. Can buy some with change in the wallet then.

The only thing I ever bought was the MGS pack but that was superb and merited the cash imo but I don't think I'll ever pay for a costume alone

Actually I just remembered I d/l Sackboy for Everybody's Golf the other week so that probably makes me a hypocrite, ah well

The only thing I ever bought was the MGS pack but that was superb and merited the cash imo but I don't think I'll ever pay for a costume alone

Actually I just remembered I d/l Sackboy for Everybody's Golf the other week so that probably makes me a hypocrite, ah well
The worst ones are the costume packs for SF4. £3.19 for costumes for 2 or 3 fighters at a time, and there are already something like 8 packs. That really takes the P.

At least with LBP you have some customisation options to tinker with.

Re: Cornish Yarg update - details released, lots of new features

I just realized, if this pack is called "Creators Pack 1", hopefully it's the first of many

Re: Cornish Yarg update - details released, lots of new features

It's out, woooooo

I just downloaded it, it's only 27MB, took a minute or so. You might as well download it before everyone else knows about it, otherwise their servers will get more and more busy and it will take ages for it to download.
It's absolutely awesome, when applying stickers to your sackboy he now remains almost perfectly still, and you can use L1 and R1 to rotate him so you can stick stickers on the sides and back

EDIT: I just tried out the custom music player as well, it's really well implemented, under the Settings menu.
