re: Release Date Changed (Wed Nov 5th ?)

Just got an email from Game stating that LBP has been delayed to October 08'. No specific date was given.

Looks like I can order Rock Band 2 now since I wont likely have to pay for LBP till November!

What a complete and utter disgrace that a few whiney little barstewards have put a delay on what was/is going to be the biggest release this year.

Im seriously considering cancelling my pre-order and not buying the game at all due to sony backing down to these whiney little .... instead of doing the right thing and telling them where to go.
Do I detect racism?!

At what point in our planetary evolution will a statement of, "No offence was intended" disclaimer ever be acceptable to these groups?
It really makes you want to have nothing to do with anyone or anything that involves such a sensitive bunch of folks, doesn't it?

I think the majority of Muslims would agree that this loud mouth group of individuals do not represent the views of their religion, and should politely shut up and stop trying to make all of them appear like whiney outcasts

re: Release Date Changed (Wed Nov 5th ?)

How do Sony manage to do this on such a regular basis?

I think that they should of released it anyway, then patch if needed. With such a commercially important project as this, with Sackboy being the "fa(r)ce of playstation", how have they ballsed it up?

re: Release Date Changed (Wed Nov 5th ?)

I think the problem is NOT that it is offensive to Muslim religion BUT that the song is not suitable on a 7+ rated game as the lyrics in the song state:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

We wouldn't want to be confusing little Arabic speaking children with messages like that whilst they're playing family friendly games now would we?

Don't speak Arabic dude but it was copied & pasted from HERE...which I guess IS the guy having a whine...if anyone does speak Arabic the audio file can be found HERE and is awaiting your translation.

If thats the real audio file in question then you have to ask at the sanity of the person who decided to include it in the game without checking what it said or where it was taken from.

re: Release Date Changed (Wed Nov 5th ?)

It seems to me that a lot of people need to get their priorities in life sorted out. A game has been delayed and they are in uproar, but apparantly offending and being inconsiderate to other religion/cultures can be overlooked as people need to stop being so sensitive?! Shocking!!

In the case of the teacher who named the teddy bear after a prophet, and the locals wanted her punished, you can see the absurdness of that situation and in that case it left you scracthing your head how those people could be so severe. But in this LBP fiasco as far as I know, no one has called for Media Molecule to be burned to the ground, only for the potentially offensive content to be removed which is a perfectly normal request. How can anyone bash these people for that request?!?! I'm sure you'll survive without the game for a couple of weeks...

I would agree with this, the only people who should get stick for this are the ones at MM who included material without checking it out properly first.

They could unblock the beta for us again though, my son will drive me crazy for a month now if he can't watch me play it

For those behind firewalls:

SCEE has supplied us with the official statement on the situation regarding LittleBigPlanet…
During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.
We will confirm the new launch date shortly.
We’ll keep you updated with further information as soon as we get it.
UPDATE
We’ve just been informed by SCEE that the delay to release is effective worldwide.
What sort of *****-about-face type 'review process' do Sony have? How has this only now been picked up?

I know, lets start mass producing the game without actually checking 100% it's fine. We'll just have to hope it's o.k. and live with the consequence.

Oh wait, we've included some music that no-one really knows anything about or even considered investigating a translation of the lyrics.

I imagine it's back-slaps all round for the M$ top-dogs and that's without them having to do a sodding thing. Bravo Sony, abso-bloody-lutely bravo.
