LBP - The basics?

Hi all,

I've had LBP for a quite a while and play it online quite often with friends. The problems is, we don't really know what we're supposed to be doing!

I've checked the manual and searched online but still can't figure it out. I have a few basic questions that I hope you'll be able to answer.

1) When collecting the little blue balls, what am I gaining from doing this? What does the little gauge mean in the top corner of the screen? The one that's red and blue with numbers in it?

2) When doing Story mode, what order are you supposed to do the levels in? I have nightmares trying to find out which level I'm supposed to do next as they seem scattered all over the place and in no particular order.

Is there a guide available that explains all the absolute basics? It's fun collecting all the stuff and all but I'd really like to know the basics of which I have no idea. The manual doesn't explain any of this either!

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but it's like competing with your freinds and the person who collects the most wins.

Arn't they like conected by a line? I know there is very small levels (small circles) you can do but they arn't Story Mode and just for fun. Just followt the lines and you will often see the line to the next mission "locked" until you complete the level before it.

I haven't played the game in ages so take this as a pinch of salt!

Cheers for that, I'll certainly look out for the lines and small circles. Don't really play platform games so this is all a bit of a maze to me. Great fun it is though.

Maybe someone can clarify what the gauge in the top corner is all about?

If you mean the one that's like a pie chart then all it's for is to keep score for when you collect bubbles or take part in races.

The points don't do anything other than get you a place on the levels leaderboard at the end.

Really lbp is all about having fun in the levels and getting safely to the end, points are put on for competitive people to have something to acheive but don't really make any difference to the game if you take notice of them or not.

I'm new to this game too. I've been playing it for a mere 1hr or so and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. I've collected lots of bubbles, lots of stickers n stuff, (but I have no idea why,,lol). BUT I'm stuck!
I'm at the ghost bit, where u jump on the boots to gain access to the upper levels. I need a friend to stand on a button at the same time as me (i think). Have I missed something along the way or do I need an online buddy?

It's been a long time since I've played this but you can complete the whole game in single player, although there are some extra bits which require 2,3 or 4 players to access prize bubble areas.

Some stickers must be stuck in certain places as switch triggers, these then give access to prize bubbles to collect.

Costumes you get from prize bubbles are used just to customise your sackboy.

Unfortunately I have lent my copy to a mate so I can't try it for you and my memory is too bad to remember which part of the game it is

You dont need to get the stickers to complete the level.
I take it's skate to victory level, when you get to the X2 part, jump on the rising wooden blocks to your left hand side.
This will take you up to another boot, jump on the boot, jump off and grab the square on the rope. Climb the plank this will take you up to the skateboard.
jump on the skateboard and ride down to the finish
