Hi guys,

I know this game has been around for a while and there's probably not many people still playing but is anyone available to help me out tonight with a couple of trophies? I need to get the play a level through with 3/4 people on/not on your friends list - any help would be gratefully received!

i'd be willing to help. Still enjoy the game in short doses, just a pity its hard to find really good user-created levels.

Not sure on what times you're free? I cant play Wednesdays (at all) or Thursday after 9pm, pretty much free(ish) at other times outside of office hours.

Hi Stinja, thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I have absolutely no social life as I have a young son so I could pretty much get on whenever you are free. I will assume you have a better social calendar than me so will avoid weekends - is the coming Monday evening ok for you?

I know it's a bit cheeky but do you know of 2 other people who may be willing to help? I would prefer to get the Play a level with 3 other people trophy with people who I know won't quit halfway through!

As you can see it's awfully desolate here now... I sometimes see a few people playing (from my Friends list) but it's not regular, and probably hard to rustle them up. The random 3 people is easy enough, it's three from your friends list thats rough, i dont think they can be 2 locally and 2 online either (so 3 different PS3s for a total of 4 people) as i did this a number of times.

I was hoping your thread might draw a few others out of the woodwork

I'm not sure of the bext way to do things but at the moment my plan is to add you all on PSN over this weekend, play through a level on Monday then un-add you all and hopefully play through another level to get both trophies. Feel free to let me know if you have objections or if there is an easier way of doing things.

Hmmm i'm usually fine on my connection; 9pm with 32 players on Killzone 2 was fine/adaquate, 16 players on SOCOM good? It does depend on the contention ratio one's ISP has chosen, and some are better than others...

TBH i was very surprised to see that much lag on 3 people peer-to-peer. But yes we should:

1/ get a fourth
2/ try different hosts - it might be how the connections are set, and changing each person as host might help
3/ different times

Also if people are just wanting the "complete level with 3 on friends list" i'd suggest playing one of the really easy/short levels on the disc, eg: 1-1 as then there wont be any additional download issues with trying to play a user-created level.

Morning all, sorry again for last night's debacle.

My wife made a confession last night - when we were trying to connect, she was upstairs downloading music! Given that my Sky router is temperamental at the best of times and doesn't like 2 machines connecting to it I suspect this will have played a large part in our issues.

I am definitely keen to try again on a different night - Stinja, I know you can't do Wednesday or Thursday, are you all free tonight? I know it's short notice so you may have other plans....

Alternatively, I could just keep an eye open for the next time you are all online?

Well yes have a full on download at the same time is never good - classic newbie mistake for online gaming I've just about taught my Mrs not to hog bandwidth when i'm playing.

If I can play killzone and motorstorm online though there isn't any reason why LBP should cause problems though is there?

Going a bit OT here but after a bit of research today I found a 'suggested' fix for connection and lag issues - changing the MTU setting on router and PS3 to 1492. Has anyone here tried this? Must try later when I get home!

Ports. Different games require different ports for full functionality (assuming uPnP not enabled and not in DMZ). I've tried to lock down my network, so i've had to manually open a bunch of ports for different games. You should probably take tech questions to the PS3 network forums though

Yes your MTU is individual for the type of router you're using and how your ISP sends data (packet size). So generically changing it may or may not help, however if you phone your ISP and get thru to their tech department, you might find someone that can tell you the correct MTU to use. Shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 hours
